Summary: One of the best books ever!!!
Review: I loved this book. I want more. If you want to read a good sci-fi book, read this one, but read Sabriel first. Lireal is a book with suprising twists and turns, with an ending leaving you wanting more, more, more!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A Great Book!
Review: If you love a book with suspense, magic, a kingdom at stake, and the dead roaming the earth, you'll love Garth Nix's Lirael.
Lirael is the sequel to Sabriel. In Sabriel, the hero is the young Abhorsen (the kingdom's sworn protector). She defeats a strong dead free magic monster using the sounds of magic bells.
Lirael is a book with a whimsical storyline, with a kingdom, magic and all sorts of fairy tale creatures (for example, Lirael's companion the disreputable dog, the Abhorsan's servant, Mogget, a free magic being disguised as a cat and several other things).
There are four things you should know before reading this book: the Abhorsan is the sworn protector of the kingdom and the living and must set the dead to rest; the Clayr are group of women who are able to see into the future; free magic is a type of ancient magic that is very strong and deadly; and the charter is a form of free magic consisting of marks that are woven to create a spell.
If you don't like a thriller of a book or you think what I'm writing is completely bogus then STOP READING NOW.
Lirael is a daughter of the Clayr. Yet still at the age of 14 she has not the power of the sight. She is different. She stands out from all the younger Clayr, almost twice as tall as some of the children. They all have blond hair and blue eyes; Lirael on the other hand has black hair and brown eyes. She's teased and can't seem to talk to the others.
Desperate she thinks of committing suicide. But when she finds a secret tunnel, with her magic creation, her friend the Disreputable dog she has hope she finds that she has the gift of looking into the past. On the Clayr's nine day watch sees her she has to seek out what trouble lurks near the Red Lake.
With her trusty dog and her boat called Finder she is sent forth from the Clayr's home. All seems well. But more and more dead have been seen killing innocent people. Could that have some thing to do with the trouble near red lake? But when she meets up with Prince Sameth, Sabriel's son, all changes .She sees what she has to do. She has to find the non-magic boy and bring him back to the castle and stop the madness of the evil necromancer who has been trying to kill the 2 travelers. But suddenly they get the news that 2000 southerlings have disappeared. Could the insane necromancer trying to make an attack?
This book was even better than the 1st one. I couldn't put it down. The characters were so interesting. I would have liked it if there was more of the history behind the magic. But the suspense and action was extreme. I loved this book; I thought it was funny, suspenseful and great for grades 6-100. I'm in full praise of the author. It was such a well thought out storyline but it leaves you hanging in the end, so you know there will be a sequel. I wished it would never stop. I severely enjoyed this book and if you chose to read it I hope you will too.

Summary: Lirael is exciting and awesome!
Review: Lirael is a great book! Don't be afraid of how long it is (ok, I was, but then I actually read it and it was worth it!). This book is exciting and suspensful and the characters rock. In this story, you get to meet Lirael, a Clayr who does not have the Sight (something that allows the Clayr to see the future-and something all Clayr have). You also meet Prince Sameth and Princess Ellimere. Sameth ROCKS! Anyway...this book is very suspensful and right when it's really exciting and deep in the story, it ends. And the sequel's not coming out until February! Well, this book is awesome. I highly reccomend this book, but I think you'd get much more from it if you read Sabriel first. There's a lot of magic/fantasy stuff in this book I didn't understand in Sabriel but understood in Lirael. Also, many Sabriel characters are in this book. Anyway, read this book and you'll know what I'm talking about!

Summary: Lirael
Review: This is a great seqhal to Sabrial. I think its even a little better than the first but there is not as many fights with magic and necromany which i really think makes the book cool.
The book, Lirael, follows two characters, Lirael and Sameth, each alike because they feel out of place. Each has a sidekick and they eventually met up. Then they find out the truth about each other and just when everything is set for the book to go on it ends...It just leaves u dangling there but I bet the next book is going to be great!

Summary: Lirael
Review: This book is a great sequel to Sabriel, and is just as - or more - exciting. Lirael has her own "pet", just like Sabriel, only its a dog and she made it herself, out of a wood carving...
The Abhorsen, sequel to Sabriel, should be coming out soon, and I am looking forward to reading it.

Summary: Lirael
Review: I was absolutely astounded when I saw that people in Amazon had rated this book lower than Nix's last in the series - Sabriel !at 5 *s. Actually, I gave them both 5 stars, but this one is still better.).

This book is written to endear us - and it's better than Sabriel because it has a dog in it!! Lirael is someone we can empathise with, and Sabriel and Touchstone make a comeback which completely explains the life they have made for themselves.

The only problem with this book is the way it left us dangling at the end!! I can't wait for The Abhorsen, Garth Nix!

Summary: Garth Nix at his best
Review: Lirael is definitely my favorite book. It is the story of a Clayr named Lirael who, unlike her thousands of cousins and aunts, does not have the Sight (ability to see "one of the many possible futures"). In the beginning of the book she contemplates suicide, but somehow ends up in the Library of the Clayr. Eventually, with the help of the Disreputable Dog and the other Clayr, she manages to leave the Clayr Glacier and go out into the Old Kingdom. Then she meets Prince Sameth, and together they discover many things about themselves and the world.
I highly recommend this book, along with Sabriel and Abhorsen. Abhorsen is not out yet, but, trust me, it will be as good or better than Lirael.

Summary: Definetly A Worth while Read
Review: If you enjoyed Sabriel, I encourage you too give Lireal a chance. Garth Nix, has a gift, bringing the characters to life, leaving you excited for the next book in the trilogy. With strong heroine's this book is full to the brim with the never ending fight versus light and dark, with twists of adventure and romance.

Summary: Ho, hum...
Review: Number one, I refuse to be called one of the "potter" crowd (in a previous post)... I liked the books, but I liked Sabriel just as much, if not more so! I gave Lirael 4/5 because I think Sabriel deserves 5/5, and the sequal doesn't quite match up. The fact that it had a hanging ending didn't bother me (get over it people, that's standard book practice... at least it mentioned a sequel!) What did was the lack in mention of Sabriel and Touchstone. I just can't belive that they'd go off to Ancelstierre and leave the Old Kingdom to fend for it's self. The purpouse it serves is simply to give the new charactures some space to grow, but I personally would have liked to hear more of the old charactures, who are still by far my favorite! Oh well, at least Mogget was still around, if only in a sleapy state!:P I guess I can always hope that the next book will have more of my favorite Abhorsen!

Summary: If you think Sabriel is exciting read this!
Review: At 14 Lirael has not recieved the Sight. She is really upset. She finally decides to work in the library. The library is the only place where she feels secure but she wants the sight. She makes a sending dog named Derisputable Dog. Dog and Lirael discover a room in which she discovers a huge secret which might explain why she hasn't recieved the Sight. She sets off and meets up with the Abhorsen-In-Waiting, Prince Sameth, son of Sabriel. They set off to find his friend, Nicholas. They go to the Abhorsen's house where the they find a big secret. This is only a sum of the adventures in this book. The story leaves off there and will pick up in Abhorsen. This book was a very good book and i recommend it to everyone who has read Sabriel.
