Summary: ATTENTION!!!!!
Review: Go Ask Alice, a book about a teenage girl who falls victim to a life of drugs (amoung other things), is not a book for those not strong stomached. I did not enjoy the book for two reasons:
1- Too depressing
2- Too annoying

Explination- Go Ask Alice was depressing because of the many rollercoaster rides she takes you through. The book was annoying because Alice plays a helpless girl that lets the world stomp on her and than expect the world to know what she's thinking.

Bottom Line- Go Ask Alice gets 1 star from me mainly because the predictability of it- every time you turn the page- more complaining. I understand that the book is based on a real girls troubles and her real diary- however, the reading process is one that should be joyful, suspenseful, and wonderful- not depressing.

Summary: An awsome book
Review: I think Go ask Alice is a great book because it shows teens what the world of drugs is like from the inside. In school they teach you that drugs are bad, but after reading this book I understand why. The narrator tells EVERYTHING to her diary, making it easy to relate to. There are some sections that are "innapropriate" for yonger readers, so i wouldn't suggest it for any one younger than 12.

Summary: Heartbreaking
Review: This is a great book for anyone, no matter what your interests are. Alice really could be anyone. You can relate to her. When I picked up my mom's 1960's published edition, I was thinking "No way can I relate to a drug user." But that was so not true! Her feelings are so complete you may forget that it's someone else and not you. The only drawback is it has strong language, so it is for older readers. The ending...oh my gosh, I won't give anything away. You have to read this book! My friend who never reads had it done in two days. It's a real page turner and it will change your thinking around.

Summary: Dude, this is an awesome book
Review: OK, this book i had just finished today, and to look back on all of the times that i liked reading the same page over and over again, i can't count on my fingers. Alice has connections with a lot of teenagers, and this is book is more then just a lesson for kids, it is a book with support. What shocks me the most is knowing that this really did happen to a teenage girl, and to know that she has had too many drugs, has gotten abused, tourmented, harrassed, and you look back when you were a kid, and you were in school and you see how you had the same people in your school. There is a little bit of Alice in everyone. i recommend this book to everyone in the world over 13.

Summary: Heart breaking
Review: When I began reading "Go Ask Alice" I could not put it down. This book makes you feel Alice's depression and the pain she went through. I had to keep reminding myself this is real diary and this did happen to Alice. This book is depressing and heartbreaking, it makes you want to jump in the book and rescue her. I loved this book and recommend this to teenagers who are curious about drugs or are currently using, this will clear their thoughts up.

Summary: will move you
Review: a friend referred the book to me when i was in 7th grade. i read it in a matter of 2 days. its a quick read, and i found it very moving, very real. it's just honest given its written by an adolescent herself. it makes you feel as though you know her or someone like her... which is y its a book i have never forgotten and don't think i ever will. i hate how the book ends, because it just seems so...unfinished. but unfortunately that is how some people's lives end.
i dont think people can read this without feeling SOMETHING afterwards. my 2 cents.

Summary: Educators' Opinion
Review: As educators looking at this book as a potential instruction tool, Go Ask Alice does provide multiple avenues to discuss teen issues that are frequenlty too sensitive to address. While it may have been shocking at the time of its publication, this situation is more familiar to today's teens. While the publishers contend that this is a work nonfiction, we can't help but wonder how much editing altered the reality of this teenage girl. Too often, her voice is inconsitent. In one entry, she's very adolescent in her writing, in others she seems very educated and almost collegiate in her tone.
Overall, however, if one were to teach this book, it might be a good idea to coordinate with the health instructor so that teens can get factual information about the effects of drugs and sex. Some historical context would also be helpful.

Summary: AWESOME BOOK!!!!!!
Review: Go Ask Alice is one of the best books i have ever read. it makes it even more hauting because you know that someone had actually gone through this and had to live such a horrible life. everyone should read this book! it had something everyone will like and be able to relate with even if you havent been involved with drugs like Alice. I read this about 4 times before i was satisfied and i know that anyone who reads it will feel for Alice for as you learn in the book part of her problem was not her fault! I also believe that it gives a very strong message too. the message is that drugs can and probably will ruin your life and you should try and stay away from that scene or you'll end up just like Alice.

Summary: "Go Ask Alice" is a must read!!!
Review: Reading "Go Ask Alice" has completely changed my life. I never knew what drugs could do to a person until I read this. This was one of the best books I've ever read in my entire life and I'm glad I did because now I understand the world of drugs and how scary it really is. To see what an innocent girl got wrapped up in is such a horrible thing. You get so involved with this book that you feel like you are a part of "Alice". I think this is the best way to experience drugs without actually doing them because you get in to "Alice's" life and you can relate to how she feels and the problems she is faced with. This book is so real and down to earth that it's a perfect book for any teenager to read! I recommend it to all teenagers and parents of teenagers.
