Summary: IF YOU ARE A CONFUSED TEEN....READ THIS BOOK
Review: I HAVE NEVER READ ANYTHING LIKE THIS BOOK...I CRIED AND RELATED ALL THROUGHOUT THIS BOOK. NOT ONLY BECAUSE IT DEALS WITH THE CHOICES OF DOING OR NOT DOING DRUGS BUT BECAUSE OF ALL THE PROBLEMS SHE GOES THROUGH. LIKE MILLIONS OF OTHER TEENS, SHE ALSO FEELS NOBODY UNDERSTANDS OR HAS AS MANY PROBLEMS AS SHE DOES. AT THAT AGE TEENS ARE SO VULNERABLE AND PARENTS SEEM TO BE THE LEAST TO UNDERSTAND. THIS BOOK NOT ONLY MAKES YOU REALIZE THAT BUT ALSO MAKES YOU SEE THAT DRUGS ARE NOT THE WAY TO GO. I HAVE READ IT ABOUT THREE TIMES AND EACH TIME I FEEL FOR ALICE. IT 'S A GREAT BOOK...ONCE YOU READ IT THE FIRST TIME YOU'LL NEVER FORGET ABOUT IT.

Summary: The best book I have ever read. Amazing, you'll be hooked
Review: Go Ask Alice Anonymous

Dare to walk the winding streets of a dark, solitary world. A world of horror. A world where, no mater what, you can't escape. From the busy hectic streets of San Francisco, to the terrifying under-worlds of Denver. A place where even a small, quiet community can change to a twisted, lonely nightmare. And the worst part is, that this world is real for many; and in this case, Alice. In the 1960's, a trend started to sweep the nation. Drugs. The lives of over one thousand people were seduced into that world and died that one year alone. Entering that dangerous world was a miracle to some. The only problem was that safe exiting was not always an option.

This true, harrowing story of a young girl of 15 depicts the life a drug addict must face every single day of one's life. Seen through the eyes of the addict. Alice was a girl with low self esteem and when she once got to a high point of her life, she decided to buy a diary so she could finally have something good to say. But when that 'something,'(a date with her long time crush), turns around, she starts to use the diary to help her through life. When she finds out that she will be moving, she becomes happy again. But who knew that fresh new start will turn out to make things worse. At first, her social life was cold and lonely until she finds someone she can lean on. Both of them become best friends. When that friend goes away for summer, she falls over and no longer has someone to lean on. So she goes to visit her grand-mother in her old town where she used to live. There, she finally becomes accepted by the "cool" crowd when they invite her to a small party. When she gets there, she starts sipping her drink when she figures out it had LSD in it, (a type of drug). And so starts the legacy. She swore it would never happen again, but it did. But this time, stronger stuff. On one 'high,' she goes so far as to loose her virginity. She swore it was over. But once you're in the world of drugs, you can't get out. She decides to go home but it doesn't end there. When she gets a job at a department store and meets a great friend. But together, they start to depend on drugs. On a 'high' at 4:30 am, they catch a ride to San Francisco and are pulled in even more by drugs. They get jobs where one of the girl's boss' rapes them so they decide to open up their own shop. They become a small success and swear to stay of drugs. Then they decide to go home. They phone their parents and they have a new start. But can they stay away? Will they be aloud to stay away? Because when you betray the others you used to relate to, they won't let you here the last of it. Enter her terrifying world. You will never forget it.

The main conflict is the lives of drug addicts and the world around them is when they cross paths. Can they seduce you as well? You may think that it'll never happen to you, but don't be sure. Alice states that drugs bring you into a miracle world. But when you come back to the real world, when you get of your 'high,' it's worse than the problem that you were trying to originally escape. Family's brake apart, friend's drift away, you become alone. The conflict is real, and worst than any other you have other seen or faced

My favorite characters were her real supporters. Her real friends and love ones. The ones that helped her through the rough times. The ones who never left her side. Because they're the only ones who can help. And they're the ones you need. The problem is when you don't have the ones like that.

Summary: an eye-opener!
Review: This book was a real eye-opener for me. I read it because I heard a couple of girls talking about it in school. I've lead a very sheltered life and never knew very much about drugs. I was glued to these pages and finished it within a day. I'm glad I read it because it helped me to understand my friends who have used drugs. Personally, I would have taken out the swear words in it though, but I guess to keep it realistic they had to stay in there. All in all, I'd say it was a very good book.

From then on her world is topsy-turvy. While she trys to get rid of her drug habits she deals with some horrifing events. This anonymous girl writes her entire expreience in her journal. Alice is so believable, she could be anyone you know.

Summary: Go Ask Alice is a great book about a courageous teenager
Review: Go Ask Alice, in my opinion is a very great book. How could they classify it as fiction though? This is a very true story. Alice, is a role model for all of us. Maybe not in a good way, but she teaches all of us that drugs are definitely the wrong way to go in life. This is a truly touching story. It will make you cry, make you mad, at make you happy all at the same time. This is a true archive of what a teenager's life is like. There is no word that I can express my emotions about this book with. This is a book all teenagers should read to understand the world of drugs. This is definitely not a fiction book after you read this. Alice was a real person, everyone should know that after reading this. I would give this book ten stars because I bet it has saved a lot of people from entering the world of drugs. When you read this you feel as if Alice is your best friend because it feels like she is talking directly to you. I truly recommend that everyone read this book!

Summary: an example for every teenager
Review: i thought that this book was a masterpiece. i am happy that it was published and i was glad to have read it. i have tried to commit suicide by overdosing on tylenol, but after reading this book i realized how lucky i was not to have given into drinking and drugs. she showed me what it is like to have been a teenager who moved around quite a bit. i left everything i had known in california to move to oregon with my family. i too had desperate times fitting in but i never went to those drastic states. i too have seen the upclose effects of drugs and alcohol and to me it's not worth it to torture your family and friends with worrying. i believe that everyone needs love and compassion and i am here to help. this book opened my mind to a lot of bad things, and showed me the good in people and how to change this world. i loved this book and recommend it be required literature in classrooms.

Summary: The strong impact of this book is not always positive....
Review: I am a high school counselor who deals with many real-life Alices every day. I was also a teen in the 1970s and read this book over and over.I still have my copy but I am not encouraging my own children or the children I work with to "learn a lesson" from it.

As others have said in the reviews, this is definitely a fictional account and I think that it can actually encourage drug use or at least risk taking behavior on the part of daring and confused teens. Alice had no real "battle scars"; She didn't O.D., she didn't get pregnant or become infected with an STD. She found friends, work and places to live and she even managed to keep a jounal (and hold onto the various pages, paper bags, etc that she wrote on even when everything else seemed to be falling apart. How unreal can you get!). And, in the end, her mommy and daddy saved her and everything was peachy keen. I found this lifestyle exciting and inviting as a teen, not a dire warning at all. Alice turned out okay and she even gained fame by writing a book. The kids who find this a caurtinary tale are likely the kids who woudn't get involved in drugs in the first place. For the rest of those seeking teens, it is just one more romantic picture of life on the streets.

I am concerned about the number of young people who seem to have found this book such a chilling and realistic portrayal of the life of a drug using runaway. They have a great deal to learn about life and, as their caretakers, we have a responsibility to give them realistic information, not propaganda that can do more harm than good in the end.

Summary: GREAT!!! A MUST READ
Review: This diary was extremely depressing. At times I was reduced to tears by this adicted teenager's story. I felt as I had actually known this girl and that she was entrusting her poignant story in me. This diary helped me resolve my own problems with presure at school and my own troubles with my parents. Go Ask Alice is the only book that I have found that really explains drugs.(Other than teen-guides or as I say, lectures.)If you are looking for a depressing, can't-put-down read, this is the book for you.

Summary: Great Book!
Review: Reality is Torn as "Alice" goes through those hard sexual years. This book brings out the saddness in my teenage life, but also leads me away from the dangers of drugs and sex. The only that gets me is that the author is Anonymous. I can understand why she would want to but she deserves credit.Yanno?
