Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice Review: Another one of my favorites, this book is amazingly powerful. The author of the diary is so open and honest, yet so helpless. It is such a sad story, and to know that it's true makes you realize that it can happen to anyone. I feel I can really relate to her. She goes through so much, her life has it's ups and downs, and it shows the consequences of succumbing to peer pressure and addictions. Very truthful and heart wrenching, I'd definitely recommend it.
Rating: Summary: TRUTHFUL AND RAW Review: Go Ask Alice has to be the bast book I have ever read. I can honestly say that I have read it at least 10 times. I take it wth me every where. I probably read parts of it every other day. It amazes me how bluntly honest this girl was with herself about her drug problems, among other things. I see it as something that every young girl can relate to. It follows her through her journey into sexual maturity and the everlasting struggle with her drug addiction. It is easy to relate to her mental and emotional struggle. I would recommend this book to anyone who is curious about drugs or has once thought that they needed help. "Go Ask Alice" shows a real girls strengths and weaknesses, and how she overcame and succombed to them.
Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice Review: I think that this is an extremly well written diary explaining the life of a teenage girl dealing with drugs. It portraits the way that life was in the '60's and '70's and even now. Teens now all over the world are becoming wound up in the world of drugs and sex. That is probally why there are so many teen pregnancies. If everybody would read this book sometime in their lifetime, we would probally have a much nicer world to live in. I am only 14 myself and some of my friends have gotten hooked on drugs and sex. I would hate to lose those people.
Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice: A Must Read Review: Go Ask Alice is one of the best books I have ever read. Beatrice Sparks has done a wonderful job on Go Ask Alice and also Annie's Baby. I read both books in just two days. Go Ask Alice is a thrilling page turner. I let all of my friends read it and they loved too. My literature teacher thought it was a great book. You have to have a strong stomach to read it because this girl was so clueless. It touched me so much that I will never ever do drugs in my whole entire life.
Rating: Summary: You Never Know... Review: My best friend told me to read this book when we were in about 7th grade--that was eleven or twelve years ago. It really moved her. I never actually got around to it until about ninth grade. It absolutely wrenched my heart when I read it, however I had no idea at the time that I was about to get a front row seat to the real life playing out of the tale. My best friend started using drugs at about the same time I read this and the whole scene played out through the whole of our adolescents and into adulthood. She died in 1997 of a heroine overdose--she had had 9 months clean at the time. Through all of this--all the years, I read this book a couple of more times, all the time wondering how she could have read it and descended into the same madness. Where does it change from curiosity to addiction? You never know until its too late.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book About Drugs Out There Review: Go Ask Alice convinces the reader not to use drugs in a way no other book does. It describes the positive aspects of drugs quite realistically, but then explains in great detail how the draw backs are a million times worse than the positives. I can't say this book will be more informative than any other anti-drug book, but it is presented in the best possible way. Besides this, it is an increadibly interesting book, one of the only Diary Format books I know of worth reading. Everyone should read this book.
Rating: Summary: This is a great book! Review: Once you start reading this book you won't want to put it down. My mom recomended it to me since she read it when she was a teen and I thought it would be stupid but it's a great book, I love it. I suggest you go buy it if you like these types of books.
Rating: Summary: scared straight Review: I first read this book when i was 13yrs. old. I am now just short of 22 and I can honestly say that this book is the reason that I never experamented with drugs. I hope it was helpful to other young people as well.
Rating: Summary: Amazingly true Review: I have read books before on drugs and how you feel and how it affects your life but they didn't stop me from trying drugs however, Alice's naked truth book made me realize what could happen and I will never try drugs again it made me cry and I think this should be a book that they make Mandatory for those who want to graduate High School I know it will help many as it has helped me. Read it.
Rating: Summary: a really good book! Review: I loved this book so much, I've actually read it a couple of times...I thought it was really interesting and very imformative! It pulled me in right a way and I fished it in about 2 days. I really am not a person who enjoys reading that much, but every so often I find a book that I absolutley love-and this is one of them...it has to be one of my favorites! It's especially good to read because this could really happen...I'm about her age and I know people who are kind of like that-and it's really good to read this so you can see what happens to people like this-it's so really it's scary...it was very emotional for me...I strongly recommend this book-in fact I recommended it to many of my friends...This is definately a book you have to read sometime in your life!
