Rating: Summary: "You can't ask Alice anymore!" Review: "Go Ask Alice"- A 30 year old classic that still has a modern twist on a young teenaged girl's life, which is expressed through the private thoughts of her diary. Alice is naively ripped into the strange, but in her mind wonderful world of drugs. It also goes into sad and morbid encounters of how the need of drugs will drive a person to any limits to feel a "high". She tries to fight her way through all her life's addictions with the help and wisdom she learned from all her friends along the way. In the end she still finds herself picking up the shattered pieces of her life one too many times. I really loved this book because it showed the raw, hard truth of the matter with very high use of imagery. It's a book for the heart and the mind, because it takes through the cruel and unusual reality of life on drugs. It also wakes you to how young each generations starts using. At the same time it saddens you, because Alice could be your best friend or your sister and you wouldn't even know. I think this book will always be a big time favorite, because it tealches us so many lessons in the everyday life that is filled with friends and the pressure that come along with them. It is a really good read for any mature age group.
Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice: A classic for the ages Review: This was a compelling book for all ages. It captures the harsh reality of a teen on drugs. The plot involves a girl who is on the run from nothing but an addiction and a loving family. It shows not only the effect of drugs on a person but on the family as a whole and how in a time of crisis a family's love does nothing but grow. Go Ask Alice is diary of a 15 year old girl in the 60's who has a dying self-esteem and an addiction to drugs. She thinks that she can take it or leave it at anytime. The only person that she is fooling is herself. The book was an instant classic. I would recommend it for anyone.

Rating: Summary: A very emotional and true story. Review: Go Ask Alice is a terrific novel. Filled with suspense, the novel is hard to put down. The story tells about a teen-age girl who is tricked into trying drugs. This first time leads her to the gateway of drugs. Throughout the story she writes about her experiences with different drugs which lead her to addiction. The very powerful entries show the all aspects of her addiction. Confused and frightened she runs away several times and even lives on the streets. Although the story is very sad and has an unfortunate ending, it is also very powerful and affected me in many ways. On a final note, I suggest all young adults read this novel. Go Ask Alice may even help some to make the right decisions. It will definitely make you realize that it can happen to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Learn from your mistakes Review: If you are a parent, you should encourage your child to read this. It's a brutal kick in the head by reality, but it will get the point across to them. It has already helped so many of my friends into making the right decision.

Rating: Summary: A wake up call for parents and teens alike! Review: This was an excellent true story of the life all teens grow up with. Many people (mostly parents) may say that this was far to exaggerated to be normal life. This really isn't so as this is a true diary of a young girl who wasn't ready for what she experienced. Depending on where you are raised this could all to easily happen even if you don't think it is. As a teen myself I know that this story could have easily been my life if I chose the path "Alice" took. I recommend this for all parents especially if you don't think this applies to you, but also to teens to see the sincere feelings and experiences of a girl growing up. You will benefit from reading this both as a parent or teen.

Rating: Summary: Raw, Deep, and Most Importantly - Honest Review: GO ASK ALICE is a shocking account of a young girl who unfortunatly, like so many others grew up much too fast. At a ripe, fresh, pre-teen age, her toubles begin with an eating disorder and the desire to be able to compete with friends based on an already almost too thin waste line. But as time passes, this eating disorder drifts away, and becomes just a bad memory, like so many other things in life, and worse yet is later looked back on by the struggling girl as a time when life was easier. Unable to see the future, and not knowing that the one hit of acid she tries will pre determin her destructive actions in the years to come, the teenager eventually finds herself on a downward spiral in a lonely world, far from home, that revolves around drugs, sex, and lies. This book isn't really much like a book at all seeing to it that it is in the form of an actual, realy life diary. Reading this book, will certianly make you think, and open your eyes to what goes on everyday to people just like you.
