Rating: Summary: This book was real Review: Oddly enough, I read this book in High School last year. It was pretty good though, and to that other reviewer it was realistic and it was a true story. Her parents had it published. And She probably would write "Oh, terrors, horrors, endless torment". This is called free writing. The only thing I didn't like about it was it didn't tell if she overdosed or what.
Rating: Summary: awesome Review: I learned a lot from this book. It was very insperational, and it taught me a lot about the decisoins I make with drugs. I think everyone should read it. It was a great book.
Rating: Summary: KIDS HAVE PROBLEMS TOO! Review: I HAVE READ THIS BOOK ABOUT 10 TIMES. TO REALLY UNDERSTAND A CHILD, ESPECIALLY A CHILD CRYING OUT FOR HELP READ IT. IF YOU KNOW OF A CHILD-YOUNG ADULT HAVING A TUFF TIME IN SCHOOL OR WITH PERSONAL THINGS THIS IS A PERFECT BOOK TO SIT DOWN AND READ TOGETHER. SERIOUSLY, IF YOU HAVE HAD PROBLEMS TALKING TO YOUR KIDS ABOUT DRUGS, SEX, SCHOOL SO ON AND SO FORTH THIS IS A GREAT BOOK TO OPEN UP A FORUM. REMEMBER, KIDS WANT YOU TO TALK TO THEM, TEACH THEM, SHOW THEM. THEY DONT ALWAYS WANT TO BE WATCHED, JUDGED, AND TREATED LIKE KIDS.THIS BOOK ALSO OPENS UP COMMUNICATION LINES BETWEEN YOU AND YOUR KIDS, AND LETS THEM KNOW YOU HAVE ALSO BEEN WERE THEY ARE. WE HAVE ALL BEEN IN TUFF SITUATIONS, REMEMBER THEY MAY NOT ALWAYS LISTEN AND TAKE YOUR ADVICE BUT THEY WILL READ THIS EXCELLENT BOOK WITH YOU AND YOU WILL HAVE A DIFFERENT RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR CHILD. I GIVE THIS BOOK THE HIGHEST RATING POSSIBLE. IT WAS A GREAT BOOK VERY REAL AND VERY SCARY. SCARY ENOUGH TO MAKE ANYONE STOP AND THINK.
Rating: Summary: A book any one can relate to Review: I started reading this book at a friends house, little did i know when i picked it up I was going to take it home and cherish it forever. When I read this book I felt like I was 'Alice' it was such a powerful book and i reccomend it to everyone. You though you've seen the real worl, well you've seen nothing till you read this!
Rating: Summary: Still Thinking About it Review: I am now 24 years old and I read this book when I was 18 or 19. I still think about it and how in such a short time things change in someone's life. I was sincerely shocked at the ending, which I believe I have never fully recovered.
Rating: Summary: An unlikely story Review: I started not liking this book from the very beginning. the language that Alice used and her style of writing was somewhat out there for her age. i didn't think that a young girl would write something like, "Oh, terrors, horrors, endless torment" because she was worried about a guy not liking her. I just found the way she spoke to be rather unrealisitic. I'm not really sure that this story is actually true. I've read various things stating that it isn't and that all the places in the story are fictional as well. I don't know what to beleive, but I do know that the book was nothing I enjoyed. The stories that the girl told were not only unrealistic, but misleading and out of place in the plot. There were times when Alice would be talking about something that had happened almost a year ago in her diary and she would say that it had just happened. I also did not like that the author was preaching to the reader in a subtle, yet noticible way. Not only this, but the way Alice's lifestyle is portrayed is much too stereotypical to be written as if it were an actual day-to-day account of a drug addiction. I thought that the book was poorly written (whether fiction or non-fiction). I would not recomend this book to anyone because I don't believe that it even slightly portrays the true horrors of an addict's life.
Rating: Summary: An easy, interesting read Review: This was an interesting book. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first ordered it, but I was not disappointed. It is a sad tale, but one everyone should read. It shows the ugly, desperate struggle of a young girl trying to GET then GET OFF of drugs. Although it was written in the 70s, this is a story that will probably never be outdated.
Rating: Summary: Insanity Always Smiles Upon Us Review: Drugs grab hold of your life; they never let go and squeeze you until you don't exist. You can never escape. You can never see, never breathe, never feel normal. You finally see the sun when you finally find your mental sky of happiness covered with your despair, your need to be a person again. At times you look up, and you vision yourself dead. You're wanting so much to be free from the bondage of an empty feeling that is created by the things that control your mind, body, and spirit. You are now created by a smile of false hope. Words screamed on paper give me solace.<I can relate to "Anonymous." She speaks for me in so many ways.
Rating: Summary: It made me think twice and brought tears to my friend Review: This book is a mandatory read for not only a teenager but an adult. It's about a girl who is tricked the first time into drugs and then starts to use them willingly. She get's hooked and it starts to ruin her life. One sentence from the book is: "Once you've lived life with drugs, there's no life without them!" It's a great book and that's why I gave it five stars.
Rating: Summary: Oh my Review: This is the most amazing story I have ever read...at no point in my reading this could I put it down. It has become my new favorite book.
