Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice Review: My first impression when I recieved this book from my teacher was great, another boring book to read. Little did I know how much I was going to enjoy it, let alone understand the book reading it only the first time through. What I liked the most is the truth and reality that this diary contains and projects to the reader. This 15 year old girl is an ordinary teenager in the beginning, she starts keeping a diary writing everything and anything that a girl would write but that all changed in an instant. She moved to another state and that's when her life dramatically changed in an instant. Since this girl already had low self esteem to begin with due to the fact that she really didn't fit in with the "in crowd", she was easily manipulated by her new "friends" and was introduced to drugs without even knowing it. Slowly but surely she changes once she interacts with others and felt that in order to fit in, she had to do what everyone else around her was doing and became a drug user. Being a drug user completely changed her life for the worse because she let the drugs take control of her life which made here do things she shouldn't have done. She was very lucky that she had a loving family that was behind her through these tough times that were overwhelming for her. The only thing is that her family and loved ones could do everything possible to try to help her but if she didn't want to help herself, it wasn't going to be useful. This book is very informative and I consider it good literature due to the fact that it can change someone else's life in a positive way. I know that it impacted me tremendously just knowing that this happens all the time when it shouldn't. If young readers were to read this, I think that it would make a difference and they would think twice before doing anything illegal to feel wanted or even accepted. If I've learned anything, it's to be yourself no matter what. Don't change who you are just to make others happy or so you can fit in. Conformity isn't always the right choice and if people can't accept you for who you are, they aren't worth all the stress and problems that come along with trying to impress them. I wish that this girl would have taken this advice before getting involved with the wrong people and making the decisions that she made. Always remember to think before acting on anything!!
Rating: Summary: If you want a good book, read Go Ask Alice Review: This was one book that was hard to put down. It showed a girls life of drugs, sex and teenage problems through her eyes. This book has made me think twice aobut drugs and sex. And it should make you think twice too. Alice started out as a "normal" teenager then turned to a drug addict and then to a straight-edge teenager. Through out her whole experience she became wiser. She was no longer nieve but smart. Each and every experience had a lesson for her to learn. And we learned those lessons right along with as we read the book. This was a book to learn lessons from and share them with our friends. So if you want a big that you won't be able to put down til your finished, read Go Ask Alice.
Rating: Summary: If you want a good book, pick up Go Ask Alice Review: This was a book that was hard to put down. It showed a girls life of drugs, sex and problems that plague teenagers today-through her eyes. It take you from being a "normal" teenager to a drug addict then back to being a straight-edge teenager. Reading this made me think twice about drugs and sex and shoudl make anyone who reads this think twice about those. It also showed that not everyone is perfect. Alice had her own set of problems, just like teenagers today. This book showed each struggle Alice went to each and everytime something went wrong whether it was w/ guys or drugs. This book stops and makes you realize that not everyone has a cookie cutter life and that you'll have problems. And it also shows that drugs and sex don't fix it. So, if you want to read a book that you won't be able to put down until your finished, read Go Ask Alice.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This book inspires me because it made me think twice. It's about a young girl who tells about her life in a dairy how she was raped, did drugs, and lived in the streets and how she survived. This is a very emtional book but great it almost brougt tears to my eyes.I thought this book is great. It's a great book because I know someone who can relate to this book and I highly recommend this book to her because it might change her mind about things.
Rating: Summary: A learning experience Review: When I first picked up Go Ask Alice, I didn't think that I could get into it, because I'm not a drug user, and I don't know what it's like to be one. After the 15th page, I was drawn into the life of a lost, crazy, and confused girl that only wanted to be accepted. I could relate to her to some degree, and I liked that. Her experiences, such as her drug days, and running away opened up my mind and it helped me understand why people do those things. I began to see things differently and i began to look at life differently. There are people in my family that use to use drugs and drink alcohol, and I can see some of the similiarites between the young author, and my family members. I think that this book is a great learning experience for anyone that's willing to open their eyes and broaden their horizon to the life of a girl that gets lost in her life.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful book Review: This is a great book. It gives so much insite, in to a life of drugs and sex. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. I loved every moment of it. Its one of those kinds of books, that you just want to yell at the character and tell him/her what to do. I loved this book alot. You are definately going to wawnt to read this. The ending is sooooo suprising.
Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice Review: This book really changed my outlook on drug users. I believe that because of reading this book, my life has changed dramatically. I truly enjoyed this book and was one of the best books I have ever read. I feel that she was trapped in her own life, like a prison and since she only wanted to make people happy because she wasn't happy with herself, she resorted to drug use. I find it ironic that the first and last times she used drugs was by accident. She had a very hard life and her so called friends didn't make it any better. I feel that if she would have never met some of the people in her life she definitely would have been better off. Lucky for her she had a very strong family bond and without her relationship with her parents and family she would have commited suicide. This book was one of the best books I have ever read and I highly recommend it to anybody.
Rating: Summary: Depressing Review: This is a very depresssing book about a girl who gets hooked onto drugs, runsaway, and makes decision with her life that affects everyone who knew her. But read this book and see where the life on drugs can take you.
Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice Review Review: The book Go Ask Alice is one of the most interesting books I have ever read. It provides a deep look at the life of a young girl during the turbulant years the 60's. "Alice"'s experiences, adventures, and feelings are easy for me to identify with. Alice is a 15 year old girl who has a normal life in the beginning of the book. When she moves to a different state her life becomes more troublesome because she is introduced to drugs. From that time on the next year or so of her life is filled with dangerous drugs, damaging people, and sexual experiences.Although "Alice" tries to seek help she is never really able to live a normal life. Eventually she overdoses on drugs and dies. This book is important because it is a warning to all young people about the danger of drugs. Through "Alice"'s experiences the readers also learn about the wild, hippie lifestyle of the 1960'. I think that this book was very moving and thought provoking. It made me realize that I am very lucky that I do not use drugs. It also made me more aware of the dangers that still exist in our society.
Rating: Summary: Almost Too True Review: I am not one who sits down to read often and when I do read it takes me a few weeks to finish a book! However, I could not put this book down. The horror that this poor girl went through has been something that I could experience as I grow up. After reading this book, there is no question at all that I don't want to be involved in drugs. This book has really changed my outlook on life and I think anyone who is thinking that their life is bad...... YOU NEED TO READ THIS!!
