Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice- Delve into her World Review: Enter the world of a drug addict, cold, horrifying, and lurid. Enter the world of a seemingly average 15 year-old girl who stumbles upon drugs unknowingly one day at a friend's party and staggers into a world far more bloodcurdling than she ever expected. Enter the world of one frightened little girl playing a game far too complex for her feeble little mind. The anonymity of the book suggests that this girl could be anywhere, Japan, Mars, England, Tucson, and even in your neighborhood. Enter the world of Go Ask Alice. Starting off slowly, and also rather boringly, the book begins with a younger, and nonetheless more naive Alice, an average teenager, writing about the ups and downs of everyday life, boys, and dieting, and mainly, her move out of her comfortable life in her home town to somewhere new. But this information, however superfluous it seems, is imperative to understanding the drastic changes that Alice undergoes later in the book- the change from the giddy little girl to the drained, weary young woman she becomes. After somewhat of a struggle to meet new people and find friends in her new town, Alice spends a few weeks with her grandmother back in her old town. There she meets "Jill", and the two become fast friends, which is odd because they were never friends earlier. Alice is enthralled with Jill and her friends; she can't get enough of them. She eagerly accepts an invite to one of Jill's parties one fateful Friday night, and it is there, with a can of Coke and a little bit of a hallucinogenic called LSD, there where Alice's plunge begins. From here, the novel is face-paced and vivacious, corresponding well with Alice's life at the moment. Upon Alice's return home, she experiments with more drugs, denying any trace of an addiction and delves herself into even more trouble, running away from home in the middle of the night, engaging in "swinger" parties, dropping out of school, and more. At this point, the novel is very exciting, albeit somewhat hard to follow at times. But any experienced reader will have no trouble with this-Readers are fascinated with the novel just as much as Alice is fascinated with this new world she is exploring. The end of the book is terrifying but poignant and heartbreaking, and will most certainly bring tears to the reader's eyes. As a young teenager myself, I can say with all of my heart that I will never become a drug user, especially after reading this compelling novel. It is unequivocally saddening to see how many teens fall under traps nearly identical to the one Alice falls under in the book. The book itself is not at a difficult level, and personally, I feel that it is a must that everyone, ages 12 and older, should read it.
Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice Review: The diary of an anonymous young girl and her drug addiction is like no other. The novel, Go Ask Alice, brings you through the life of a troubled teen and her screwed up social life as she struggles to overcome her drug problem. The one thing that keeps her alive is the thing she treasures most in the world, and that would be her diary. This is the journal that the entire world now has access to. She takes it everywhere with her including her school, a mental institution, California, and a variety of other places. The style used by her in which she talks about her troubles and woes helps you to better understand her, almost as if you knew her, and were a close confidant of hers. Many see this book as a way to encourage drug use. But I feel it can be used to teach the consequences of your actions. Many lessons can also be learned from this novel, such as; trust but verify. She was first introduced to drugs when she went to a friend's party in which cocaine was present. If only she would have "verified" before attending, her problem would have never occurred, and the course of this novel would have been entirely altered. One of the greatest things about this novel was your attachment to the main character. You felt for this girl as she tried and tried to overcome her addiction. You wanted her to finally break free from the things that kept her back such as speed, cocaine, and other harmful drugs that eventually led her to her death. I would definitely recommend this book to others, yet only to a certain audience. People of twelve and younger, might have trouble comprehending this novel. It makes many references to things people learn about much later in life. Those who plan on reading Go Ask Alice will certainly get something back from this book. No longer do you look at drugs and those addicted to them the same way.
Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice is a must read Review: This book is great! It is full of drama, heartache, problems, and family. If you think your life cannot get worse, read this!!! It is a true story, too. All the people, places, facts, and thoughts are real. I know I actually cried over this book. I felt like I knew "anonymous." I could taste her tears and smell her fears. We became one as I read. Right when you think all of "anonymous's" problems are solved, you find out they are not. The ending is amazing. I'll give you a huge hint . . . you will never know it's coming. I followed along every word and I never saw it coming. This book has left an impression on me and I'm sure it will do the same for you. Love, Nicole
Rating: Summary: Awesome novel. Review: Go Ask Alice is a moving, disturbing, heart warming, adventurous novel that will stick with me for the rest of my life. Alice is an average teenager, who unfortunately has to deal with her life and learn the hard way. It is a story of your average teenage girl, who stumbles over and falls into a pit of sadness, and has to deal with an unbearable life that could have fallen on anyone, a life of depression, and drugs. Alice begins this tumble one exciting night when she is introduced to drugs by her so-called "friends" and she simply can't get enough of them. She loves the stately feeling and the majestic sensation that they give her and she loves her new friends who turned her onto them. She ends up running away and living on the streets and drugs turn her urbane life upside down. They unfortunately and predictably lead her into a deeper hole that she can't escape unless she crawls out on her own, and starts over; which is exactly what she does. Alice learns her lesson the hard way, just as the thousands of teenagers who have to learn what drugs really can do to someone's mind. This novel is a journey that can prepare teenagers for peer-pressure, and many other obstacles that may occur in anyone's tumble down their pit of sadness, and may cause them to deal with depression or drugs. I would gladly recommend this extraordinary novel to teenagers, who are about to undergo the reality of peer pressure because even though you aren't actually experiencing the story, by reading the descriptive and meticulously told life of an innocent teenager, it prepares you for reality. Alice could have been anyone. But we may never know because she was an everyday teenager, just like anyone else, she just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, just like thousands of other teenagers who deal with the same scary fall that Alice just had to plummet into.

You learn so much about how hard life can be for a young teenager and the solutions she figures out for her problems. I think that all teenagers and parents should read this story becuase you get a sense of what it's really like living the way Alice did. It's an amazing story that really inspires you to let others know how great it is and to tell them to read it. More than 4 million copies have been sold because it's just incredibal!
Rating: Summary: Anonymous¿ great, vivid, and detailed journey of drugs Review: After reading this tear dropper, coming-of-age diary, it caused me to think. The Go Ask Alice author "Anonymous" brings heart and realism into this novel. They say this is based on an actual diary, and I believe it. Some people think the editor wrote it but no matter what, this book stirs up the life of [adult relations] and drugs during the late 1960s. Alice is trapped in the center of trying to fit in and her diary reveals her thoughts and what she experiences along her pungent, dismay road to her death. I loved the style of the tale that was assembled by diary entries from the main character, Alice. It gives the reader a first-hand look at the world of drugs and other teen related subjects. As you read and watch her life unfold, you can see how plausible and breathtaking one girl's life of self- destruction becomes due to one thing, drugs. This book has it all [adult relations], drugs and slander, not to say that it's a good thing, but the fact that this girl went through her life has really widen my eyes to a whole knew world I never expected. It opened my eyes to the severity and realism faced by an innocent human being stressed and struggling to find acceptance from everyone around her. Alice's descriptions are thrilling and communicate the subject of drugs and other issues successfully. I knew about drugs and [adult relations], but not to this extent, the fact of rape, best friends, fitting in with society, depression, drugs, real life issues, that happen today, is overwhelming. As you read this book, you will feel compassionate and sympathetic for Alice. This book brings you into a whole new world, it sucks you in. This fifteen year old diarist uses an insightful, vigilant technique of recording her teenager anguish and misery. She fears what her crush thinks about her and she can't stand her weight gain. She also worries about her growing [attractiveness] and is uncomfortable at school, plus she has difficulty relating to her parents. Alice's father takes a new teaching job, and this makes Alice happy, but not for long. The shift is hard on Alice. Whereas her relatives get use to the new city, Alice suffers life as an outsider at school. That's where all the fun begins to happen. The novel is a tremendously simple and fast read since the writing is from a fifteen year old's point of view; the language is easy to understand. This book is only 185 pages, like I said a quick read. It is filled with suspense, as you read it you can't put it down, you keep thinking what's going to happen next , is she still going to take drugs, Oh my God I can't believe she did that! But through and through, this book tells you about the bitterness of drugs. They don't come out and say "Don't do Drugs", they don't give you solution, but this book implies and conveys a message that you will never forget. Remember when you watch the health movie about drugs; it was informative, but not as compelling as a first hand view of what it is like. They just say the facts, but this book shows reality and will have a much greater impact in the long run. Overall, I recommended this book to anyone, young and old. Once you step into Alice's world you aren't getting out. So get on your feet and experience the real, tormenting, anguish, and agony filled diary of, Alice.
Rating: Summary: Very good book!!! Review: Annotation: Go Ask Alice is a true story about a teenager's descent into the seductive world of drugs. She goes through the many types of drugs as if they are nothing. It is totally up to her to quit before she gets in to far.Author Bio: The author of this book has decided to remain anonymous. She was fifteen throughout the main setting of this book. It is also unrevealed when this book took place, as are many other things about the author in this book. The subject of this book died three weeks after her decision not to keep another diary. She died from a drug overdose but no one knows why of if it was accidental or premeditated. Evaluation: I thought this was an excellent book. I don't usually read that much unless it is required or for a project. The person who recommended this book to me was my uncle. He told me it would be one of the books I will ever read and he was right. When I first started reading this book I thought to myself why would I want to read someone's diary especially if I don't even know them. But as I started reading I thought to myself this really is a good book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has a drug problem or just wants to read a good book.
Rating: Summary: Ick. Review: Had I not known that this was completely fictional, I still would have given it the same rating. The main character ("anonymous"... oooh) is just... farcical. I mean, the book is so filled with ridiculous, bombastic drama I felt like I was choking on it, or drowning in it, take your pick. If I knew Anonymous, I would dislike her very much. So, anyway, half a star for shameless propagandizing, and half a star for being just a really terrible book.
Rating: Summary: You Should Read Go Ask Alice Review: 'Go Ask Alice' is a very good book i loved it.It was the best book i have ever read. Most books i have read i would not finish or i would not read it but this book i could not stop reading i thought it seemed so real .And also i loved how the book said so many details about here trips and her life and kids she hung out with. My favorite part was when she was babysitting but then on tne next page she woke up in a mental hospital and she did not know how she got there man at that part i just could not wait to read the next couple of pages. I really wish she would of kept writing in her diary cause i really want to know if she stayed off durgs and how she died. Thats the only part that i did not like cause it did not tell you how she died i would really like to know if she died from drugs. I wish i can find another book like Go Ask Alice cause i would really like to read a book like that again.

Alot of the things that happened this book are very realistic. This book digs very deep into the 'drug scene". I thought this book very intresting in the way that Alice is constantly fighting against herself and drugs. This book is mainly about young girl that is constantly fighty to fit in and be cool. Later on in the book she will see the big picture and pay the ulitmate price . I think every teenage student should this superb book
