Rating: Summary: One of the only books that kept me hooked!!!!! Review: This book was so realistic it seemed as if you where there! I would asolutly recomend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: A tragic tale of drugs and growing up. Review: It starts out as the diary of a girl going through normal teenage problems, boy troubles, friend troubles, and making it in a new town. After she moves she adjusts to a new life and new friends. Then summer comes and she goes back to visit old friends. While there she attends a party where she experiences drugs for the first time bringing her into a whole new world. Everything seems great at first, but then life goes down hill. She finally seems to be pulling herself together when she gets drugged and ends up in the hospital. A couple months later her life comes to a tragic end. I really felt for the girl in this story, because I can relate to alot of the things she went through. I really loved this book and I would recomend it to anyone who enjoys true life.
Rating: Summary: It's All a Lie Review: This book is horrible. It's not written by a real teenager and neither are any of the other journals in this series. It's an obviously fake cautionary tale written by someone who doesn't seem to know a lot about drugs or drug use, as none of the situations described seem believable in the least. This book is an overly formulaic look at the worst-case scenario of drug use, much like one would see in a bad TV movie. Even when I first read it at 15, I didn't believe a word of it. If the publishers would lie to you about the author, how could you believe anything else in the book?
Rating: Summary: i liked it Review: my friend (a teenage girl) really liked this book so she asked me to read it. i did and i really like it. it's basically a first-person account of a teenage girl and her (heavy) drug experiences. the first-person perspective makes it especially interesting, since (for instance) she talks about how *wonderful* her drug highs are, not how awful they are like another person would say. some people may doubt that this book is real, but after reading it i have to say i do believe it's absolutely real. i guess i can't really put it into words, but it's real. anyway, if you're interested in what the book is about you'll probably like it too.
Rating: Summary: Intense Review: I first read this book 30 years ago as a sixth graderand it is every bit as powerfull as it was the first time I had read it. It is the diary of an annonamous female teenager that fell victim of drug abuse. The book should be read by every teenager about the pitfalls of drug use. The book is stunning on two seperate accounts. Like many well written non-fiction books, this book reads like fiction. The diary starts off as the average teenage worries about family, friends, and lifes problems. As the book progresses, it becomes darker and more depressing as the young lady sinks into the drug abuse. The second front this book works on is it can be seen as a social commentary. She writes about the pressure she faced from "perfect" parents and the loneliness she felt. This diary was a cry for help that came to late. There has been suggestions that it is not an actual diary, but a novel. I personally do not believe that it is a novel because nobody has ever stepped forward to claim it as a hoax. It is a true shame this young lady felt the pain she had and lost her way due to her drug abuse. This book will leave the reader feeling unsettled and that is the point of reading it.
Rating: Summary: Helpful, insightful Review: This book is not only great for clean people, but confused drug users also. I used to be like the girl in this book, and it helped a lot when I read it, to find my reflection, and to help myself. I believe this book can not only prevent someone from using drugs, but help them get off.
Rating: Summary: Yep Review: So this diary wasn't all that exciting to me really. All in all I was very unimpressed. The anonymous writer just depicts life and how her highs were. She just described what millions of people already know about drugs. Very unfullfilling.
Rating: Summary: Go Ask Alice Review Review: Go Ask Alice By AnoynomusGo Ask Alice is a deep and honest diary of a girls struggle through the endlessly addictive world of drugs. Through boys, "pushing", school, being high, bummers, detention centers, running away, and death there is the eternal support of her family. Go Ask Alice is written unbelievably well for being a real diary. The descriptions are amazing and make the book come to life. Here is 1 passage from the book. Choices I have lamented until I am dehydrated but calling myself a wretched fool, a beggarly, worthless, miserable, paltry, mean pitiful, unfortunate, woebegone, tormented, afflicted shabby, disreputable, deplorable human being isn't going to help me either. I have two choices; I must either commit suicide or try to rectify my life by helping others. That is the path I must take, for I cannot bring further disgrace and suffering upon my family. There is nothing more to say, dear Diary, except I love you, and I love life and I love God. Oh I do. I really do. This was the only book I've ever read that I just could not put down. Go Ask Alice was one of the most heart wrenching books I've ever read. By Leslie
Rating: Summary: She deserved it. Review: Ok, so when I first heard about the book I thought it would be very interesting. So I bought the book and started reading it. I was quite caught up in it at first, then it all when downhill just like Alice. Yes she was tricked her first time, but she was ready and willing her second and third and fourth. I felt no sorrow for her at all, she knew what she was getting into when she resorted back to her old ways. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I literally threw the book down in disgust right when I finished it. But if you're looking to teach you're kid not to do drugs, this book is easy to read and it'll probably scare the kid.
Rating: Summary: Opened my eyes wide, this is a book I'll never forget! Review: I thought this book was an outstanding book. It's not written by some brilliant writer but merely a 15 y/o girl writing her most personal and intimate thoughts in her diary. It goes through her most terribly painful and wonderfully joyful experiences as a teenager. This girl goes through some of the worst things imaginable that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. I definately think that parents of adolescents should read this book and if they think thier children are mature enough to handle it, encourage their children to read it too. This book opened to my eyes, not only to the world of teenage drug use but to the teenagers thoughts, and to the addiction. I will never forget this book as long as I live and I definately reccomend it to anyone with an open mind looking to be truely touched.
