Summary: A Wrinkle In Time
Review: When Mr. Murry, a superb scientist, a husband, and a father of four gets called away on government business and is asked to tesser or "wrinkle" through space, he misjudges his landing and lands on a planet known as "Camazotz." Camazotz is a planet of darkness and doom, run by the wicked leader "It." He is held captive on Camazotz for an extended period of time. His family has no idea where he is or what is taking him so long. But then three witches, Mrs. Who, Mrs. Whatsit, and Mrs. Witch, move next door and tell Mr. Murry's daughter Meg, his youngest son Charles Wallace, and a family friend, Calvin. It is then up to Meg Calvin, and Charles Wallace to rescue Mr. Murry.
The book really takes off when you get into the lives, and personal problems of Meg, Calvin, and Charles Wallace. Calvin, a popular school basketball star is the exact opposite at home. He has many brothers and sisters and a mother who hardly notices him. Meg on the other hand is socially challenged, but she has a very caring family. She can never get along with anyone because of all the rumors flying around about her family. The only person, in Meg's opinion, who understands her, is Charles Wallace. Charles Wallace is a scrawny six year old who possesses an amazing gift. He can read people's minds. Since his mind is the most complex he will be the most vulnerable on the planet of Camaztoz.
This book is excellent for readers of all ages. I would especially recommend this book to Harry Potter fans, because it has the same magical aura as the Harry Potter books. Also, if readers enjoy interesting and complex books, this book would be perfect for them. This book starts out as a science fiction, but along the way, it evolves into mystery, fantasy, and it's very suspenseful. A Wrinkle in Time is an overall splendid book.
I despised some things about A Wrinkle in Time. For example, they stopped at a numerous number of planets before they got to Camaztoz. All of the planets had peculiar names. They keep referring back to the planets, and you can never remember their names. Also, I hated the way that Mrs. Who kept quoting things in Latin, Italian, etc., and then translated it into English. I think it would have been less confusing if she just said it in English.
When the children finally reach Camaztoz, it will take every ounce of Meg, Calvin and Charles Wallace's ambition to fight the evil "It", and rescue their father. Meg must find the one thing she has that "It" doesn't. All of them will have to work together, and fight extra hard, especially because the witches will not be able to help them. They will go through many hardships, but they must stay together. No matter what happens, this will be an odyssey that none of them will ever forget.

Summary: A Wrinkle in Time
Review: A Wrinkle in Time, a fantastic novel by Madeline L'engle, is an intriguing mix of fantasy, mystery, and science fiction. My favorite character in this book is Charles Wallace because even though he is under the influence of IT he still manages to help Meg and Calvin. My favorite part is when Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which and Mrs. Whatsit bring Calvin, Meg and Charles Wallace onto a 2-D planet and they turn into 2-D people! This is a great book! So if you like a good adventure, you'll love A Wrinkle in Time!!!

Summary: A Children's Book with Depth
Review: I first read this book in 5th grade (1989) and recently re-read it because I wanted to give a copy to my friend's new child so that he would eventually enjoy it. L'Engle's ability to explain abstract concepts in a way that's easy to understand is something I didn't appreciate until now. This book will make for a fond memory to those who read it.

Summary: Better than good!
Review: After reading this beautiful adventure story, I could definitely see why this is the work L'Engle is known for! It's a great read, slightly reminiscent of C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia, filled with strange (but lovable) creatures, well-rounded characters, and vivid descriptions. Meg Murry, her younger brother Charles Wallace, and their new friend Calvin set out to rescue Mr. Murry from another dimension of time and space. While the author mentions God and refers to the Bible now and then, she also mentions evolution, which distracts a little from the story. All in all, a book young and old alike will enjoy, to be read over and over!

Summary: A Wrinkel in Time by Madeleine L'Engle, Reveiw by Cole Woods
Review: A Wrinkle in Time is about three kids, Meg and Charles Wallace Murry and their friend Calvin going on an adventure through space to save their father from the evils of IT. Their Father had been studying the fifth-dimension and tessering (time travel). They travel through space and the fifth dimension to get to a planet called Camozotz where their father is held prisoner. IT is a brain that can take over minds and control them. In a chance to save their father Charles Wallace is taken over by IT.
This is a very fun and interesting book to read. I learned many things about the dimensions. I loved this book because it was written in 3rd person instead of 1st person. I like knowing what's really happening instead of it being told from some ones point of view. This book was great because it was different from anything I've ever read before. I liked it better than the sequel A Wind in the Door because even though I love reading about dragons, reading about space and time travels was a lot more fun. I would recommend this book to adults as well as kids. It is a slow starter but you will love it in the end. It is a very fun sci-fi to read and I'm sure if you read it to you will feel the same.

Summary: A Children's Classic
Review: This is a must-read book for any pre-teen/adolescent. It was my favorite book at that age and I also have enjoyed it again as an adult. Even if one is not particularly interested in fantasy works, like myself, it is a fantastic novel that transmits the reader into its world. The author, L'Engle, has many works worth looking at.

Summary: My Review on A Wrinkle in Time
Review: A Wrinkle in Time is a very interesting book. Maggie Murry's father who is a scientist, dissapears and Maggie devotes her life to finding him. She and her little brother go to find their father. Along the way many new peole come into their lives and many things happen. Maggie and her brother Charles Wallace comne into a whole different world to find their father. You will have to read the book to see what happens at the end.

I liked the book when Maggie goes off on an adventure to find her father and runs into all of the problems. I like that because thoses problems would never happen to us or at least most of those problems. I didn't like the ending because all endings are happy and that gets old after a while. This novel compares to other books I have read because it is in someway like a mystery. I have read many mysterys in my life. That is probly my favorite kind of book to read. My overall impression of theis novel is it was not great but it was good. It was only good because not evrything was fun to read about. This is a book that I would recomend to others because just because I only liked it a little doesn't mean everyone else wouldn't like it. Also it was fun to guess ahead to see what would happen.I liked the book and I think many others would like it too.

Summary: A Wrinkle in Time
Review: The story, a Wrinkle in Time, is about Meg Mury, her brother, Charles Wallace, and her friend, Calvin O'Keefe, who set off on an expedition to find Meg's dad, Mr. Murry, one of the few scientists experimenting with the fifth dimension of time. With the help of three witches, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who, and Mrs. Which, Aunt Beast, and the Medium, the trio go off to battle the forces of evil keeping Mr. Murry hostage.
I liked this book because it is adventurous and shows compassion between one person and another. For example, Meg doesn't want to leave Aunt Beast because she had started to have a very touching relationship with her "aunt". Also, Meg rescues Charles Wallace from the man with red eyes, also known as IT.
A Wrinkle in Time can definetly compare with other books. A Wrinkle in Time's characters are less involved than Watership Down's Hazel. However, I think that A Wrinkle in Time is more interesting and has fewer events than of those in Watership Down. I would recommend A Wrinkle in Time to all readers who enjoy a book with a bit of science, adventure, and couragous events. It is quite an astonishing book.

Summary: A Wrinkle in Time
Review: There are many characteristics about this novel that brought me to fall in love with it. I enjoyed it because it displayed a heartwarming tale about Meg Murry overcoming her struggles and realizing that everyone didn't have to be perfect. I also enjoyed reading about Charles Wallace who was labeled stupid but was actually so advanced that he had the power to open most every mind. Another thing I liked was how Madeline D'Lengle put in the point that even though you can be very smart like Charles Wallace, and it can still be put to your disadvantage because you are over confident and think you can do anything. Where in Meg's case you know your limits but still change if a loved one is endangered. Like when she went back for Charles to save him from "IT." This is a one of a kind novel which is very to hard to judge against any other novel, but you like science fiction books like the Time Machine, or Phantom Tollbooth you will love this book. I would definitely recommend this book to any of my peers or anyone who feels sitting down and reading in my view one of the best books ever written.

Summer Reading Review on the Novel: A Wrinkle In Time

There were a lot of different qualities about the novel A Wrinkle In Time that I liked. I liked watching the characters progress on their journey as they learned more about themselves and what they were capable of doing. For example, Meg Murry was just one of the few characters who benefited from their quest. Before her strange encounter with Mrs. Whatsit, Meg had the idea that she was just an average girl with no rare gifts or exceptional beauty. By the end of the book, Meg realized that she could do something that many people in her world could not. Meg could open her heart and love.
Another thing I liked about the novel was how the author showed that evil existed and how it had a powerful impact on Meg's world and the other fictional planets. By making the "Dark Thing," the author exaggerated the fact that there is a "Dark Thing" that exists in our world, though it is not visible to us. This showed me that for something to exist you don't have to be able to see it.
Overall in the novel, A Wrinkle In Time, the author Madeline L'Engle brought me to consider that there might be a different life that I'm not aware of. A world of magic filled with different people and creatures with a culture that compares in no way to ours. I found myself relating to some of the characters and their obstacles and frustrations that they had to over-come. I liked the book; it was difficult for me to put it down. I am glad I had to read this book, the novel made me realize that everyone has gifts and talents that are unique to them.
This novel compared with the other novels I have read because they all were centered on self -discovery. Throughout all the books, the main characters were learning to embrace their individuality. Whether it was finding a lost family member, finding a
new home, or trying to fit in, all these characters had a mission in which they never gave up, even though at times they wanted to. They all learned to accept that, although they may not fit in, fitting in, is not really that important. Their individual traits, which kept them from being accepted, were not necessarily bad. What all these novels have in common is that the main characters found that their qualities that separated them from society were just their distinctive personality traits. In the end, they discovered that everyone has something different, special, or unique about them. They just needed to find it. Therefore, the main characters all learned to accept themselves for who they were and to not try to alter the uniqueness, just to fit into the crowd. All of these novels were different in their own way, yet they all taught me not to try to change myself, or anybody else, just for the sake of fitting in.
My overall impression of the novel was that it was well written. By using the elements of outstanding characterization, detailed settings, and great usage of dialogue, the book seemed to come alive in your mind. Madeline L'Engle created a whole different world full of possibilities and imagination. I would recommend this book to older children because of the difficult vocabulary. It would be a book best suited for those children with interests in science fiction and adventure. After reading this book I have found it has opened my mind to more advanced thoughts about the universe, and seeing things through different perspectives. I am glad I have read this book and I will carry these viewpoints with me from now on.

Favorite Character in the Novel: Water Ship Down

My name is Nicole Martori, and I am 12 years old. My birthday is October 16, 1990. I love reading, writing, sports, talking on the phone, listening to music, going to the movies, mall, hanging out with friends, and playing sports. My favorite sports are softball, volleyball, swimming, basketball, and surfing. My favorite color is either green, or purple. My favorite type of food is Italian. I have a ten-year-old brother named Freddie. My pets are seven fish, a frog, two dogs, and a cat. Over the summer I mainly just hung out here in Phoenix, but I did go on a couple trips. I went and stayed at my friend Sarah Serrano's cabin in Pinetop, I went to my Grandma's house in Prescott, and then, I went to California for a couple weeks. My family and I stayed in La Jolla at the Sea Lodge Hotel. It was very fun! Well they're some facts about me.

My favorite character from the novel Water Ship Down was Hazel. Hazel was my favorite character because he was such a great leader. He always trusted his younger brother, Fiver who had a sense when something bad was going to happen. Hazel never doubted his brother, even though he was smaller and weaker then some of the other rabbits. He always took action when Fiver told him he was getting that feeling when something bad was going to happen. On the quest to find a new home, Hazel never left anyone behind; he would not accept any losses. He was always open minded to other's opinions, or ideas no matter how small or old. Hazel always made decisions with confidence and certainty. Though Hazel was small, he had all the right elements to be a perfect leader; he was courageous, open minded, fair, positive, made decisions for the benefit of the group, and was never willing to give up. I feel that I would like to be more like Hazel because he took charge and lead the group, but at the same time was not bossy, took other opinions, and was always making a decision that would be for the best of the group.
