Rating: Summary: GREAT Review: I read this book for a regional spelling bee in my area. I read it to get a better understanding of advanced words such as "tesseract" and "aberration" and I read it in a day, I loved it so much. I think Meg is unlike me, but I am like Charles Wallace and Calvin. I love being able to be like character's in a book. That means that a writer has done their job well. I thought this book was suspenseful especially when you get to the part about IT. IT was ammoral. IT had the wrong impressions of equality. Meg had lots of common sense to know the difference and not to give in when her brother Charles Wallace had.
Rating: Summary: Travel into Space and Back Review: Great reading for 12 years and up. I found it enthralling but a little too heavy going at times. The content keeps you busy and certainly makes you concentrate. I like the way this sci-fi novel appeals to all tastes. I loved the 'tessering' and the big showdown with IT. The novel addressed many different themes from, perserverance to love, dedication and the notion of never giving up hope. Highly recommended for the young and young at heart.
Rating: Summary: My favorite book Review: A Wrinkle in Time is the best book I have ever read. It is very interesting and makes you want to keep reading.
Rating: Summary: A Briliant Science-Fiction Novel with a Hint of Drama! Review: I though that A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeleine L'Engle, was a wonderful and smart science-fiction novel. Meg, her friend Calvin, and her little brother genius Charles Wallus, embark in a journey with three magical old women to find her long lost father. When they wind up "tessering" to another planet in which everything is run by a big brain, IT, everyone is in immense danger. This charmingly witty, yet astonishingly intelligent sci-fi is a delight to all science-fiction, religious, family, or just "love-a-good-book" readers.
Rating: Summary: A Wrinkle in Time Review: The science fiction time-travel adventure, A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'engle, is an excellent book and I would rate it as one of the best novels I've ever read. The story goes from sad, to happy, to scary, and into a world of suspense. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is a decent reader that loves stories of adventure. The words used in the book are not difficult. But, the story itself is. You have to read very carefully so that you will not get tangled up in a scrambled world of confusion. The characters in the story go through heartening lessons of triumph and courage. The main character of the story is Meg. She is a troubled girl who finds her true self, is more satisfied with her identity, and learns valuable lessons along her journey through the future. Meg's younger brother, Charles Wallace is different, with intelligence that someone his age would not have for another 20 years. Their companion, Calvin, on the journey is a stranger who was sent along to protect Meg from danger. Calvin and Meg start to fall in love with each other as the story progresses. The three children; Meg, Charles, and Calvin were brought through space, and into the future by three women who are much like guardian angels. They are destined to fight the evil forces and rescue their father who has been imprisoned by a horrible creature called IT in a world called Camazotz, where all people are controlled by IT. The most exciting part of the book, and probably my favorite part is when Meg, her father, and Calvin tesser, or travel through time, to escape the power of IT. IT has Charles Wallace trapped within its mind and almost got Meg trapped. "Meg felt that she was being torn apart by a whirlwind. She was lost in an agony of pain that finally dissolved into darkness of complete unconsciousness." I loved this part of the book because it gets you wondering what will happen to all of the characters next, especially Charles who was left behind. Also, when Meg wakes up from unconsciousness, she finds herself furious at her father for leaving her beloved brother, Charles Wallace, with the evil IT. It thought this book teaches that love is the key to life. As Meg says, "I love you Charles! I love you!" Love rescues you from evil and a life of hateful sadness. This book is supposed to be a story of traveling through time. But, I think it is just a simple, dramatic story of a love between a girl and her brother.
Rating: Summary: A Wrinkle in Time - Thoreau Middle School Report Review: A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle is an outstanding book. All Meg and her brother Charles Wallace want is to find their father, who mysteriously disappeared during experiments with time and space travel. Along with the eighth grade superstar Calvin, and three ladies with a special secret, Meg and Charles go on an amazing journey into the unknown. They travel through time and space to many different planets and meet many different people and creatures. It is truly a grabbing story that will pull you into the world of imagination. My favorite part was in the beginning. It was a dark and stormy night when a stranger walked into the house of Charles Wallace, the unsuspecting Meg, the twins Sandy and Dennys, and Mrs. Murry, who is the mother of all these children. "Wild nights are my glory," said the stranger. "I just got caught in a down draft and blown off course. Let me sit down for a moment, and then I'll be on my way. Speaking of way, by the way, there is such a thing as a tesseract". There is something unearthly about this stranger and Meg gets the feeling that they will meet again. This is a book of love and hope. Madeleine L'Engle has truly created a masterpiece. A Wrinkle in Time is a wonderful book for just about anyone. I would give this book five stars and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in science fiction involving time and space. But even if you're not interested in that kind of thing, this would still be a great book for you.
Rating: Summary: After 30+ years, it's as good as I remembered! Review: I'm a mom now, beginning to look for books that will turn my daughter onto reading as much as I was and I had this title "A Wrinkle in Time" connected to what I remembered as being "The Best Ever" book, but other than that, I didn't recall much. So I bought it, along with "Wind in the Door" and sat down to decide if it was anything worth giving to my daughter (OK, so she's only 7, perhaps I'll give her a year or 2). What I found was that the story remains great, all these years later. Another review I read suggests that the pseudo-science was annoying. I don't know. I went on to get my degree in BioChem (with honors from an excellent school), and I have to believe that it was books like this that instilled in me a love for things mysterious. Isn't that what science is really all about, trying to figure out the things that aren't already known! When reading Wind in the Door, it was funny to read about Mitochondria and realize that I had been first introduced to the concept as a child. I'm left wondering if it made things easier for me than for my college classmates, that I could already conceive of these subcellular structures. It was fun to read it again, with my much greater understanding of cell biology and place myself somewhere between the adult me and the child I once was. I can't wait for my daughter to be ready to read this under the covers by flashlight. It's definitely a book to be read to yourself, allowing your imagination to soar.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED THIS BOOK! Review: THIS BOOK WAS AWESOME! I could not put this book down! This book is full of suspense and fun. I really enjoyed it. It was extremely creative and is a book for a person with lots of imagination. If someone asked me about this book I would highly recommend it. The story has a setting that is all over the universe. Truly this is an amazing book!

Rating: Summary: FAVORITE BOOK - NOW & FOREVER Review: AN EXCELLENT BOOK BY KERF (RANFWR2SXZ@AOL.COM) In Madeleine L'Engle's first book, A Wrinkle In Time, Meg and her younger brother Charles Wallace, who were always thought of as retards, join up with Ms. Who, Ms. Which, and Ms. Whatsit and meet Calvin, a young boy. The six of them travel in tesseracts (the 5th dimension) together to rescue their father and save a planet. My friend Si-Si recommended this wonderful book to me. I took her advice and read it for a Reading Enhancement project. Immediately, I was drawn into this strange, imaginative book. I recommend this book to anyone with a creative imagination. I truly think that this is one of Madeleine L'Engle's masterpieces.
