Rating: Summary: A Wrinkle in Time: a wonderful book Review: A Wrinkle in Time is an exciting book with themes such as love and Good vs. Evil. In A Wrinkle in Time, the unpopular Meg and her precocious younger brother Charles Wallace are sent on a mission to save their father by three mysterious ladies, Ms. Who, Ms. Which, and Ms. Whatsit. Meg's Father, while playing with time travel, was caught in the mind of IT, the evil brain that controls the planet camazotz. Meg and Charles Wallace must use all their strengths to save their father.
Rating: Summary: A Double Standard Review: A Wrinkle in Time tells the story of a girl, Meg, who must travel through time to different worlds to save her father and, consequently, her brother. L'Engle portrays Meg as a smart girl who is having problems finding her niche. Everyone tells Meg that she must find a "happy medium" and, basically, become more feminine. Meg is unsure how to do this, and she isn't even sure she wants to. From the start, Meg is told that she must change something within herself and find moderation to be truly happy. Meg fights with boys at school to protect and defend her family but both her mother and her brothers tell her that she will never be happy until she can control her actions and her emotions and stop fighting. Mr. Jenkins, her principal, informs Meg that she is impatient, belligerent and uncooperative. He also tells her that things would be easier for her if she were more "normal." People continuously try to get Meg to change so that she can find a middle ground and be content. This seems to send the message that a girl is only happy when she has changed and given up a part of herself so that she may fit into her place in society. As people try to convince Meg to change, a double standard between males and females can also be seen. When Meg fights the boys at school, her brothers tell her that she should leave the fighting to them. This shows that if someone must fight, it should be the boys. Later, Meg demands that the three time travelers, Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which and Mrs. Whatsit, take her to see her father. She is told by Mrs. Who to be patient, whereas, when Calvin constantly questions one of the women he does not receive treatment comparable to Meg's. Early on in the book, Meg is only able to answer math and science questions, while Calvin can answer all the questions that are not math related. Calvin's unability to answer math problems is almost unmentioned yet Mrs. Murry finds it imperative to note that Meg is a little one-sided but that she does still enjoy "playing with her doll's house" (39). Meg's one-sidedness is seen as embarrassingly male. The dolls are mentioned to Calvin as proof that Meg does have some feminine qualities so that Calvin will accept her. Throughout the novel Meg is constantly being told, outright or not, that she cannot be happy because she is not feminine. Since the writing of this book, society has begun to realize that a woman's femininity has little to do with her knowledge or her ability to find a "happy medium." Some still have the misconceptions seen in this piece of work but most have seen that females do not have to lose a piece of themselves to fit into the world. Despite this novel's flaw, it is still a wonderful piece of literature. It is imaginative and creative and captures the attention of a range of people. I look forward to reading other books from this author.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read for Young Adults Review: My mom told me about this story when I was in 3rd grade. That was 13 years ago, and I still haven't forgotten the effect this book had on me and my future readings. L'Engle won the newberry for this story and it was well deserved. I rate it as my favorite science fiction story of all time. It inspired me to read the other three books in the series on the O'Keefes. The story is one of heroicism and mystery that is rare in an adolescent book. Harry Potter has nothing on these stories.
Rating: Summary: Science, Love, Adventure- This Book Has It All! Review: I wasn't really into sci fi until I read this book! The thrill of traveling through time waves along with imagainary creatures that hold significant qualities captured my interest immediately. It is a real page-turner, and is guaranteed to keep you up late at night...It also gives you messages to ponder upon, such as what really matters in life, and that the only true power that can conquer all is the power of love; the power to feel emotion.
Rating: Summary: Imaganitive Adventure Review: In "A Wrinkle In Time," Madeline L'Engle describes the journey of two children in search of their father. Meg Murry and her extremely odd little brother Charles Wallace travel into another dimension in search of their dad who has been missing for several months. This tale of adventure introduces readers to characters such as the strange Mrs. Whatsit, a drifter who is lost in our dimension and looking for a way to get home. You will never forget the strange experiences Meg and Charles Wallace encounter on their journey.Madeline L' Engle's use of description, imagination, and setting take readers on an imaginary journey into another world. The theme of strength and family love proves that one is willing to go to all odds to preserve the happiness of someone else. Each character and new place introduced in the book are described to such detail that readers can picture each vividly in their minds. L' Engle describes each in a way that makes this parallel universe so real it seems as though one can reach out and touch it. This book leaves readers wanting to know more about the Murry family and what is to come of them.

Rating: Summary: One of the Great Books I Have Read Review: A Wrinkle in Time is a great book. I would say that kids in first grade ( 7 years old at least) and higher. AWrinkle in time is great, but in the beginning it gets a little boring. So other than that it was great! The End
Rating: Summary: READ THIS BOOK Review: I read this book when I was 8 and it started to give me strange thoughts, I always find myself relating to the characters in a book, but I felt a strange connection with Meg. Two years later I read it again. Being 10 then I understood why all my friends and I felt the way each of us did. Even if you are the most popular kid in school there is a character in this book that tells you, "I am like this person, and I can be like them". I got this thought from Meg. I have trouble with school because I can't concentrate on one thing when something more interesting is going on, or even if not. After reading this book, I was able to look at my difference in a new way. I knew and my teachers said they knew that I was gifted yet I have obstacles in my way. Like Meg, I found ways to "tesser" over homework and learning while still understanding it all. I went for years of being in advance math groups without knowing long division. Finally when I got to 6th grade, I discovered that I knew how and "taught" my self. THIS BOOK IS A MUST READ! ALSO READ THE SEQUILS! p.s i can't spell either!
