Rating: Summary: Pretty cool... but dosen't measure up to the others Review: A gift of Magic is a tale of Magci (naturally) and the gift of ESP. You follow a girl called Nancy who seems to have this gift, and as she goes through her complicated life she finds out when, and when not to use it. Though it dosen't measure up to Duncan's other works this story is definatly something you should read.
Rating: Summary: Dreams and fulfillment Review: A Gift of Magic is in no way Duncan's best work. This one is different from her others in the fact that I found it more suited to children. "Gift" is a magical fairy tale that only briefly touches on the trademark Mysterious Phenomena of Duncan's style. It has a simple storyline, simple characters, and a simple structuring. Good for storytelling to younger kids, but not for the usual audience.
Rating: Summary: Not the best book I have read Review: A gift of magic is not the best Loius Duncan book I have read. Although it was really good it was not up to what Loius usually writes.
Rating: Summary: A True Gift of Magic Review: A Gift of Magic is truly a wonderful book. Lois Duncan appears to be an outstanding author because the book is very well-written. It is written from the perspective of an 8th grade girl named Nancy who finds out she has a very rare condition called ESP, which is short for extrasensory perception. This basically means that Nancy can predict things before they happen or see into other people's minds. (Keep in mind that this condition is completely real and although it is extremely rare, there are individuals that have ESP in real life.) I feel that this book greatly appealed to me because of it's unique plot. It tells about a type of "magic" most people don't even know exists.

Rating: Summary: GOOD BUT I WOULDN'T CALL IT A THRILLER Review: A GIFT OF MAGIC WAS A GOOD LOIS DUNCAN BOOK. I ENJOYED READING ABOUT NANCY AND KIRBY DEVELOPING THEIR GIFTS. BUT I FELT REALLY BAD FOR KIRBY WHEN SHE...OH I DON'T WANT TO SPOIL IT. YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO READ IT FOR YOURSELF, BUT IF YOUR IN THE MOOD FOR READING A THRILLER, THIS ISN'T THE RIGHT BOOK.
Rating: Summary: This book was the best I have ever read Review: A Gift of Magic was more than magic it was about us as humans learning about the gifts or talents that we may have and using them.
Rating: Summary: Lois Duncan- A Gift Of Magic Review: Book- A Gift Of Magic Author- Lois Duncan~Mother= Elizabeth Garrett ~Father= Richard Brenden Garrett ~Children= Brenden Garrett, Nancy Garrett, Kerby Garrett ~Others-Thomas Duncan, Mr. Rossi, Greg Rossi, Miss. Green, and Madame Vilar ~Elizabeth and Richard decide to divorce. They want a divorce because Richard is a photographer, and the family goes everywhere with him, the children never make friends and they get home schooled by their mother. When Richard goes to do more photography in France, Elizabeth takes the children to live in the home where she used to live herself as a child, with her parents. The home was old, and had been abandoned for a while. The house was still beautiful. It was near a beach. Both Kerby and Brenden adjust, but Nancy doesn't, she wants her parents to be together, and she strongly feels her father misses them. Read the book for yourself to find out what happens! ~My thoughts The book was a very good, and I would reccomend it for people ages 13-17. I like how it is strongly detailed and there is plenty going on with every one at the same time so you dont get bored while reading... I would only reccomend it to people that like the idea of the mystery that goes on.
Rating: Summary: A Gift of Magic by Lois Duncan Review: Flashback To the oldest girl I give the gift of dance. To the boy I give the gift of music, and to the girl, the one that looks like me, I give the gift of... Nancy is furious. Her parents just got divorced and she and the rest of her family had to move to Florida, her mother's hometown. She is miserable. Her mother is spending all of her time with Tom Duncan, a boyfriend she used to have, and her only friend, her sister, spends all of her time at the dance studio. Nancy has nothing to do with her time and is a complete loaner, until she predicts the answers on the social studies quiz before they were even asked. That's when she finds out she, too, has a special gift. Now, all she needs to find out, is if she will use her powers for good or evil. Mystery, suspense, and action are blended together to make this magical book, a heart-stopping adventure. I think this is not one of my favorite books that I have read by her, but Lois Duncan really describes everything in great detail so I had a large picture of the book when I was done reading. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in ESP, or just likes a good, fast, read.
