Rating: Summary: Good... Review: I think this book was a little too much like Pokemon. True, it's got more action, but the basis is the same. Also, it was rushed, and did you know the art style is almost exactly like Pokemon too? So if you LOVE pokemon and shoujo, Angelic Layer is a mix of the two. (Note: If you HATE Pokemon, still give this a try. It's not THAT bad!)
Rating: Summary: Even better than the anime Review: I wanted to see Angelic Layer ever since I saw some music videos on the Internet. After watching the fan-subs numerous times I knew I had to have the dvds when they came out. Then I read the manga...
It's hard to believe, but I actually think the manga is better than the anime in this case. In the anime, Misaki is more doubtful and distracted (even during the fights). In the manga, however, she's super-cute all the time, but when she starts a battle that's all her mind is on.
And speaking of battle, I don't think I've seen a manga yet where I liked the fight-sequences quite as much. The back-flipping, cartwheeling, super-graceful movements of the angels on the layer is simply a joy to behold on the printed page.
The dialog of the characters also seems (to me at least) to have more snap to it in the manga than on the show, and Icchan in particular is so incredibly hilarious I couldn't help but laugh out loud many times when reading Angelic Layer. The art style is interesting as well, as the characters are supremely well-defined and well-drawn at dramatic moments but turn into very silly (and very funny) "squid" versions during comedy dialog.
This is one manga that pretty much anyone can read. There's enough action to satisfy the martial-arts lovers, enough cuteness to satisfy a little girl, and none of the sex and violence garbage that could otherwise mar an excellent story.
I can't recommend this Manga highly enough.
Rating: Summary: Whahey! Review: I wish people would stop saying this title is another 'Pokemon' because it is obviously not and anyone who says so has just obviously never seen or read it. Also I wish people would stop knocking it as a 'little kids' title cos it most certainly isnt - Just cos something can be enjoyed for ALL ages does not mean its for kiddies. That aside, I must say I love Angelic Layer. I currently own the first 2 graphic novels and the first DVD. THe characters are fun (Icchan is hilarious) and Misaki is ever so sweet. The action is sharp and fluid and makes you feel as if you are one of the spectators watching the angels fight! The artwork is rather simplistic but in a nice refreshing original way. I like this art style alot. Overall any CLAMP fan or anyone who loves comedies should try this out. If Icchan isnt enough to make you laugh (and I cant imagine that he wouldnt) then any of the other humorous characters could. Two thumbs up. Angelic Layer and Chobits are currently my favourite CLAMP titles.
Rating: Summary: Sailor Moon Review: I'M SORRY. I DON'T KNOW HOW THIS HAPPENED. I WISH I COULD CHANGE THE BOOK, BUT I CAN'T. At first when I tried this series, I thought, "I wonder if I'll like it. It seems more for girls!" Well, now that I've read it, I can safely say, I really liked it! I couldn't really see why I had thought it was for girls. Even the author, Naoko Takeuchi, said in the book that she originally created the books for girls. I think that a boy would like this series because there's action, comedy, and such as are in most Manga. It has a really good plot and keeps you interested throughout the entire book!Sailor Moon is about a girl named Bunny who helps a cat. It can talk, and its name is Luna. Luna gives Bunny a brooch, and she becomes a Sailor Scout. During the story, others become Sailor Scouts too. They help rescue those in need and defeat bad guys (and gals). I like this series so much that I am defiantly going to buy the next one. There are 2 other series related to Sailor Moon: Sailor Moon Stars and Sailor Moon Supers. They have some of the same characters in them. I'm not sure if I'd recommend them because I've never read them, but if they're anything like regular Sailor Moon, I would!
Rating: Summary: I love this series. :) Review: It combines two things I adore; fighting games and customizable, highly articulated dolls! (Or action figures if you don't like the word doll.) Plus, the characters are all very cute and funny. It's a fun little action/comedy that I think even boys might enjoy, if you could get them into it. I hope the release of these books means they're planning on translating the animated series soon too. My only minor complaint is I'm not sure how many non-manga/anime fans will be turned off by the fact you have to read these books from what is, in a Western point of view, from back to front. I know one of my friends who doesn't really like manga or anime (though she is of the type who will probably never like more than a few scattered shows as she hates the genre in general) liked the idea of the series but was immediatly frustrated by the formatting. Otherwise, I think it's another outstanding series by CLAMP. :) Huzzah for brand loyalties! ;D J/K
Rating: Summary: Umm...It's an ok manga Review: It's go AT FIRST if you are an CLAMP lover. It's alright i think it's not worth ten dollars, more like 7 or 8. SO if I were you borrow it from a friend or library. What a re you going to do with it afterwards. But you should get it if you are in shojo and clamp. I'm not saying it's not bad, I'm just saying if you luv clamp get it. The story is sorta predictable, depends you age(I think it should be for 4-10 but that is just me) The drawings and graphics could be better.
Rating: Summary: Nice art but... Review: My only problem with this series is that it is only 5 issues long and so as a short manga alot has to happen in a short amount of time. That tends to be why I like longer series. But anyway, I think the art in this is amazing and if you like CLAMP its a good buy. The only other problem with it, in my opinion is that I am getting kind of sick of stories about little kids who are geniuses and don't even have to ever practice anything but just suddenly get good at it without trying. Misaki gets an angel, and then like, 2 weeks later is in the National Championships? It's a little TOO rediculous.

Rating: Summary: Angelic Layer Rules! Review: This is a great manga! It's really entertaining. I don't think older teenagers or adults would like this that much though. . .It's more for 15 years or under. It's has a cute storyline and there are tons of funny parts. The artwork isn't that detailed, but it's still awesome (since it's by CLAMP of course). There's tons of action drawings that are really great though. I would definetly recommend this manga. It's amusing and a worthwhile buy!
Rating: Summary: Enthralling! Review: Twelve-year-old Misaki Suzuhara is a little afraid, starting a new school in Tokyo. But on arrival, she learns about a whole new phenomenon that's sweeping the world of toys - mentally controlled fighting robots called Angelic Layer. So captivated, she immediately spends all her money to get her own Angel, and she soon proves to be a natural at tournament play. There's a very odd man, who keeps popping up, ready to help her at every step. But, who is this strange man, and what does he want? This *excellent* little book is one of the best mangas that I have read. The characters are all interesting and believable, with a healthy dollop of fun thrown in. I quickly found myself drawn into the story, it being quite intense, and yet quite friendly (Angel Layer is a game, after all), not as violent as you might expect. A great thing about this book is that it is printed so as to be read from back-to-front, right-to-left, in the Japanese style, helping to give the reader the feeling of entering another world. I really enjoyed this book, and found the story to be absolutely enthralling. I highly recommend this book!
