Summary: The Scam Is Over
Review: Soccer moms, this is your only warning: GO AWAY.

This is not Yu-Gi-Oh! as you know it. This isn't Saturday morning preschooler entertainment in picture-book format. No, this is the real deal: Kazuki Takahashi's original manga masterpiece in all of its occult, sadistic, action-packed glory.

"What?" you ask. "Who's Kazuki Takahashi? What the heck are you talking about? Isn't Yu-Gi-Oh! that lame little show my kid brother watches, about the rainbow-haired freak who plays cards and barks out `I summon the Dark Magician to smite thee, O Kaiba'?"

Well, unfortunately, it is that, thanks to 4Kids Animation, the group responsible for its egregious marketing tactics here in America. (Yu-Gi-Oh! toothpaste, anyone?)

Trace it back to Japan, however, and you'll find that it's hardly for kids, as 4Kids claims it to be. The original manga was loaded with gangs, violence, people catching fire, grill hockey with explosives...the whole shebang. 4Kids may have been able to make a bundle selling a sterile, child-safe version of the anime (with all of the toys and cards and light-up sneakers), but the truth is that they kind of screwed it over in the process.

So forget 4Kids. You're looking at the real McCoy right now: the first volume of the manga that started it all. No whitewashing. No editing. No Burger King toys. Just a thrilling, seven-chapter roller-coaster ride for the average high-school otaku.

You won't have to read closely to see the differences between Takahashi's Yu-Gi-Oh! and 4Kids's Yu-Gi-Oh!. Joey, for instance, is a likeable idiot; Jonouchi, on the other hand, is a likeable gangster. Fans accuse Téa of being a "prep"; Anzu's a kick-butt female protagonist. And let's not forget the main character, Dark Yugi. He's psychotic to the point where he's almost demonic, and he's got an attitude to boot.

Doesn't sound like the Yu-Gi-Oh! you know? It shouldn't. Because it isn't.

This is no marketing scam for a collectible card game, by the way; Duel Monsters won't even show up until the second volume, and it won't become remotely significant until the fifth.

Happy reading, boys and girls.

Summary: This ain't no cartoon...
Review: The "Yu-Gi-Oh!" Manga series kicks off, and this is Yu-Gi-Oh like you've never seen it before! When Yugi solves the ancient Millenium Puzzle, he is possessed by the ancient King of Games, and transformed into an avenging spirit, whose purpose is to challenge and punish sinners who "trespass on the souls" of him and his friends - and such people won't get off very easily! Experience Yugi and his friends in a whole new light, but be warned... this ain't no cartoon...

Summary: Yu-Gi-Oh! Vol.1
Review: The Yu-Gi-Oh! manga is finally bing released in the nifty graphic novel form! This contains the Yu-Gi-Oh! manga from #1-4 of Shonen Jump magazine. This is a great manga series! You get to see the origin of Yugi and his friends! The manga is way better than the anime!! They use the Japanese names in it (like in the Dragon Ball/DBZ manga). Here is a key so your not confused.
Dark Yugi= Yami, the spirit of the puzzle
Anzu Mazaki=Tea Gardner
Katsuya Jonouchi= Joey Wheeler
Hiroto Honda= Tristan Taylor

Whether your a Yu-Gi-Oh! fan, or your just lookin' for somethin'to kill the time with, I reccomend buying this!

Summary: The real Yugi
Review: This is actually the real Yugi. Please parents don't give these to five year olds. The manga is for teenagers there is violence and some sexual content. That is exactly why I love it. This isn't duel monsters you guys they're shadow games and when Yugi's oponent loses it is a penalty game or (dum dum, dum) DEATH!

Summary: Better then the Show
Review: This is one manga you do NOT want to miss out on. It doesn't just show how cool and interesting it is but how different it is from the tv show. You might be watching the show and saying it's stupid but once you pick up the manga, you're not going to want to put it down.

It's basically about a loner kid named Yugi Muto who has this weird neck accessory that sends a spirit out from it (known as Yami) that takes over Yugis body and challenges "wrong doers" to a shadow game. So it's basically from little shy guy to TALLER demon guy.

This manga is one FUNNY one as well. With Jounouchi (Joey) and Honda (Tristan), the two "bullies" at school and their sick personallities, how could humor get any better?

Summary: YUGIOH!!!!! Why 4kids? Why?
Review: This is the beginning of the Yu Gi Oh! series. I gave it three stars because I only liked three stories in this volume. I think the art is a breath of fresh air compared to the cutesy stuff I usually read.
The stories are much darker than the TV series episodes (which bore me a great deal.) Overall it's an okay series in its on right.

Summary: Good, but not great
Review: This is the first Yu-gi-oh manga. I love the TV series, but the manga is being released too slow!
ANYWAYS, about this book. As i said before, the anime is better. I don't really like the manga's artwork (no offense). The storyline goes a bit deeper, though.
So if you are a SUPER Yu-gi-oh fan, then buy it for your collection. If you are just content with watching the anime on TV, then stay with that. They are basically the same anyways.

Summary: The Opinion of a 13 Year Old Girl
Review: Watching the TV show, I pretty much became stunned by the animation, cast of characters, and the all-in-all originality put into it. But it still didn't answer the question that bugged me for years; where the heck did this all start from?
Then I read the manga, and it pretty much cleared it up for me, but aside to that, it's creepy plot, cast, and the endless suspense in each chapter left me looking at Yu-gi-oh at a whole new angle.
Even though this is a Shonen manga ('Shonen' meaning 'Boy' incase you're wondering), I myself being a girl even enjoyed it, and I think that's pretty cool that one series can do that. So if you think you can handle it, I definetely recommend this manga.
