Summary: Awesome!
Review: I personally love the manga comics, and I've read it at least 20 times (and it's not even been a week since I've bought it). I thinkk that it is personally better than the kids wb version, but barely. I think that in my view it is not suitable for kids under the age of 8. Someone else may think otherwise, but that's just how I feel, because it has some mild language, and a bunch of crude/sexual humor.

Summary: Excellent series.
Review: I will admit I do play the card game and have been watching the television series (as if there's anything else on TV for a 22-year old college student to find worth watching?), but the graphic novel series really did stun me. I was surprised to see just how dark-natured this series truly was. The development of the characters is considerably deeper than the animated series, and there is some mature content in here as well. Despite it is rated "T" for "teen", I would suggest at least someone fifteen years or older start reading due to its mature content. All in all I'm very impressed with this first volume (in addition to vol. 2-4), and look foward to seeing Volume 5 (which is where the cartoon we know begins).

Summary: Well, I'm impressed
Review: I'm a new fan of Manga, and it's partly because of "Yu-Gi-Oh!" It's got an unusual story, fun characters (Joey's kinda cute..), and is just plain different. I just keep reading it over and over and it never gets old. I like it. You'll probably like it. Go ahead and buy it.

Summary: Definently an older audience
Review: I'm going to have to agree with some other reviewers and say that this novel should be read by 13 year olds and up. Not that I don't think that younger would mind, but it does have pretty violent situations in it.

That said, I thought it was a great novel. The art is crisp, the dialogue is readable and makes sense (of course, I haven't a clue how close to the original it is, but all the same...), and the story is engaging. I haven't watched the show (no cable), so I can't compare with that, but I think this novel compares favorably with other anime that I have read. I really liked the development of the characters; none of them are perfect, and yet they are all totally human! And some of the situations are really funny. I could really relate to some of the things that the various characters did or felt.

Definently one of the good ones, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in anime or comics in general!

Summary: Pretty good!
Review: I've watched the tv series and I really liked it! So I've decided to check out the comic It's really good! Although Parents, I woulden't let children under 8 read this! kids 10-11, I would have your parents look at it first. Note that there is some mild language and unsutible thems if you know what I mean. Their is alot of violance also! It's sorta like the Sailormoon comics. But if your allowed to read those them maybe you should try this. But ask your parents first!! If you 8 and under maybe you should wait till your a little older but thats my opinion:)

Summary: To Buy or not to buy?
Review: If you are a die hard fan for yugioh you should buy this thing. But if you are just a person getting into yugioh this may not be your thing. If you like manga and beautikul anime you should buy this to satisfy your hunger for manga and anime. Overall if you love yugioh get it but if you like yugioh just because all of your friends are into it you should`nt buy this.

Summary: Only cool if you know what to expect...
Review: It is a great thing that we are able to read these. THEY ARE NOTHING LIKE THE BUTCHERED, CHOPPED UP, GRABLED CRAP that KidsWB shows. 4KIDS entertainment has dumbed down Yu-Gi-Oh so that it can be shown to little children who still like Pokemon. I'm talking about 7 year olds here. YGO is made of TEENAGERS! Not little kiddies still learning how to count and say their abcs! The novels have violence, cussing, and everything else inbetween. Yugi, the star, himself is in the 10th grade! So you can expect for them to cuss and everything. In some of the episodes that 4KIDS DESTORYED they take out some things that will explain the plot! For example, in the 4KIDS version Mokuba is explaining to Yami why he was trapped by Pegasus, he describes a secret meeting he overheard between Pegasus and a group of Kaiba Corp executives called the Big 5. They plan to merge Kaiba Corp with Pegasus's Industrial Illusions, but first Pegasus must get rid of Kaiba, and capture Mokuba to be a figurehead. In the US version, we're told that according to the Kaiba Corp bylaws, only a Kaiba family member can preside over the corporation, which is why they want Mokuba. In the Japanese version, it's the key to the Kaiba Corp passwords they want from Mokuba. Also the characters themselves are different! Not by a lot but there's a noticable difference. Along with the Graphic novels I HIGHLY reccomend the uncut versions of YGO. The voices of Yugi,Yami,Joey, Tristion, Seto, Mokuba, and many other characters are the same. I hope this helped and I hope that us YGO fans who are sick of 4KIDS ruining YGO rally against them and make them crash and burn.

Summary: a must-have for older Yu-Gi-Oh! fans
Review: It's great that English-translated volumes are finally being released. The Japanese volumes are way ahead of us, of course. This volume is very different from the anime that's currently airing in the U.S. (2nd Series). It begins with the 1st Series anime - though I should say reverse since the manga came out before the anime. It's even different from the 1st Series anime because Yami Yugi seems a bit more sadistic to me in the manga. This volume has 7 stories which correspond to 1st Series episodes 1 (but a different game, more vicious), 2 (a little different), 10 (a little different), and 13 (game a little different). The rest of the stories weren't in the 1st Series anime.

As others have said, it isn't suitable for children. It's geared more towards teens and adults.

An additional side-note - this book is read right to left like Shonen Jump. It might take a little getting used to but it preserves the way the manga is supposed to be seen/read.

Summary: ...GOOD...
Review: Now, I'm not a wonderful fan of yugioh, but i still watch the show, and when i saw the book, i thought why not read it a little. it's very good and it has a good depth and its so interesting to read. i would recommend this book for yu gi oh diehards.

Summary: *MUCH* better than the anime.
Review: So anyway, I saw a few episodes of this "smash hit" anime, and just kept thinking, okay, when does the 'smash hit' part come in? I mean if you look at what they had to work with, it realy could have been a "smash hit".
The manga's realy great and is for an older audience than the show, I'd agree with the others and say 13 and up. I read this monthly in shonen jump, which is a great value cause you also get great titles like one piece, shaman king, yu yu, and naruto. (I dispise dbz for some reason, I don't even know why.)
Anyways... back to topic. The story makes alot more sense than the anime. Like you find out how he gets the puzzle yada, yada, yada... and it's not so hyped up and repetive. And tho it eventiually does get based around the cards, there are alot more interesting games that he plays. According to shonen jump, the cards don't take over for another year. And that's for the mag. so if you read the graphic novels, don't expect to see alot of the cards for about 2 more years.
Anyway, all in all, it's pretty good. If you love it, and can't wait for more, I suggest you get shonen jump, which right now is way ahead of the book.
