Rating: Summary: Miles To Freedom Review: This book is about the journey of black slaves escaping from their masters, to go to Canada to be free. The book concentrates on a woman named Harriet Tubman, and her people who help the slaves make it to freedom in Canada. When Harriet heard about freedom in the north she took the journey herself to see if it was true, and to see if the journey could be done. Also to find people to help her and others like her during this journey to freedom. After making the journey herself and finding that there was freedom in Canda, and that there was a way to get there Harriet began to get the word out that she had found the way to get to freedom in Canda. She also was willing to take them there herself and show them the way to Canda and freedom. Harriet had found many people willing to help her and others like her on their journey to freedom with food and shelter, these places were known as safe houses. Even after president Lincoln signed a bill into law stopping slavery in the United States Harriet continued to fight for the rights of others, and women.
Rating: Summary: a good read for ALL ages Review: This book is about the trials and tribulations of Harriet Tubman, a woman whos feats can never be matched. The plot is never boring because it is true and nothing can get the heart pumping more than an adventure. Its a good book for book reports. Also read to young children so that they may learn about the past and the good triats they should learn. I could tell you the whole story but I'd prefer you read one of the best books I ever read The Story of Harriet Tubman: Freedom Train.
Rating: Summary: Freedom Train - a very interesting book. Review: This book was very informative, about the life of Harriet Tubman. What a wonderful, caring woman she was. She was truly a modern day Moses. She loved her people so much and helped them as much as she could. I would like to thank the author, for writing such a wonderful biography of Harriet Tubman. Thank you, Nick Sicignano 7th grade
Rating: Summary: Freedom Train: A Boring Book About A Slave Review: This isn't a very good book. It might be good if you're in love with history and you like reading 'Harriet freed slaves. She took them to Canada.' over and over again. Someone would read this and think Harriet Tubman was boring. If this is Harriet Tubman's life, then my life is cool. In other words, beware. This book is only for school reports. I wouldn't say this is a good book by any means. It's like being in slavery when you're reading this. I'd do math homework before this even crossed my mind.
Rating: Summary: This book is one of my fondest childhood memories! Review: When I was between the ages of 9-14..., I read this book at least 8 times. It was one of my all-time favorite books, and when I was still in the role-playing stage, I loved to pretend that I was Harriet Tubman and go sneaking around the house imagining I was leading a troop of former slaves to freedom!...I have always thought of Harriet Tubman as a great woman and a hero, and this is the only book I've read on her life. It is exciting, riveting reading... When my younger brothers and sisters grew old enough to read it, it became one of their favorites too, and our old paperback edition was literally read and read until it fell to pieces! That's why I logged on to Amazon.com today... we finally had to throw away our old copy, it's fallen apart into about 5 pieces and there are parts missing, and I wanted to order a new copy! But when I saw that ridiculous review, I couldn't stay silent! This is a GREAT book, I heartily recommend it.
