Summary: Excellent
Review: You really can't come to compare the work of J.K. Rowling with those of her contemporaries. She is an excellent young adult author who continues to delight her audiences, despite the delays between novels. Although some portions of the book seem to morph into lengthy space-wasters in an attempt to fatten the width of the book, it is essentially a good-hearted adventure story, filled with snippets from the fascinating imagination of Ms. Rowling.

Summary: It was great...
Review: When I finally finished reading the last chapter of the book, I was left wanting more. Partly because "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" proved to be an addictive read, and partly because I was a bit unsatisfied. (mind you, read it from cover to cover without being able to put the book down). Perhaps the feeling of unsatisfaction was left there by Harry's constant moodiness (but, I'm sure we've all experienced that at 15-- and I do realize that for Harry it has only been but a month since the tragic events of book 4). I was still waiting, two-thirds into the book, for the adventure to start; and when it came it seemed to come and go in a flash. At the plot level, there were very few of the twists and turns I've come to expect from the Harry Potter series. The "Order of the Phoenix" though, is an excellent window into Harry's feelings and thoughts. I think it serves as a point of convergence, where all previously gained knowledge about Harry and his world, and especially about his link to Voldemort are finally laid out and explained. From this point on, Harry has full knowledge of who he really is and it will be very exciting to see what J.K. Rowling has in store for us in the next two books.

Summary: HELD UP TO MY EXPECTATIONS
Review: Brilliant book, I devoured it in less than 2 days, and then I went back and reread all the H.P. books all over again in order, and now I'm onto my third reading of The Order. Just wish I could hope for the next 2 to come sooner, I really can't wait. Don't know what I'll do once the series is finished-- I think I'll be devastated. Great job, Ms. Rowling! Just hope you can write quicker...

Ps. I wonder how the Weasley twins are managing in Diagon Alley?

Summary: What a wonderful book!
Review: Upon receiving my book from amazon.com I found that I could not put it down!! I read it non stop until I finished it, taking a total of 9 and a half hours. That's speed reading, of course.
Though I do have one comment for you parents out there:
There is an occasionally swear word here or there, and coming from a 17 year old girl, there are some parts that are actually quite morbid.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the book!!! I think it's actually one of the best out of the Harry Potter series, even though seemingly a bit rushed!
J.K. Rowling once again proved that she can continue to awe and capture the audience with her words. Harry Potter is a wonderful book for all ages, and I encourage everyone to go out there and pick up the book. It's too good to pass up!
P.S.
For you parents, it's not a tamagotchi, beanie baby, or a furbie, it's a book! Kids should be encouraged to read! And this book, along with the others, is a wonderful way to introduce the younger generations that reading is good!
And one last thing, J.K. Rowling I have one thing to say...ROCK ON!!!

Summary: Continuing the Magic
Review: Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix continues the proud tradition of the third and fourth books by discussing issues releveant not only to the school, but the larger world community. Unlike the previous books, this one starts of with a bang, rather than making us go through yet more scenes where Harry is being abused by the Dursleys. Teenagers are sure to identify with Harry(he worries about whether he is a good kisser and at one point says they should teach how the brains of girls work at the school. His struggles lead to some of the most funny parts of the book) as he struggles with a crush. This book, though long, is a quick page turner. I finished it in a quicker time than most 300 page books I've read. One thing that may dissapoint some is the smaller role Hagrid has this time around, but I found this to be an effective way of further enforcing the neagative changes at the school. Dumbledore also rocks in this one, it's one of the best in the series and is highly reccommended(this book is slightly darker than it's predecesors, and may not be suited for younger children who have read the others).

Summary: Harry Potter V is great.
Review: This is Harry's fifth year at Hogwart's, and it isn't what he was expecting. Everything seems to go wrong even before he gets to school. First he spents time with Sirius at his London house which is all very hush hush, then he is tried at the Ministry of Magic for using Magic out of school, then he doesn't get picked as prefect, and he's all worried about these bad dreams he is having.
Things don't get better at school either. I couldn't wait to see what happened to Hagrid. It seems to take forever to get to him. And there isn't much of Dumbledore either. But this book was great anyway. I can't wait for Hogwart's year 6.

Summary: Good Story, but LLLOOOOONNNNNGGGGG
Review: Well, I've finally finished it and can re-enter the world again! The fifth installment of the Harry Potter series is definitely good, but not my favorite (that prize still goes to Book #4). As is Harry, the book series is maturing. This one dwells on Harry's adolescence, which Muggles will be relieved to learn is as difficult for Wizards and Witches as for themselves. Harry experiences so much trauma and self doubt, though, that after a while it's hard to read. What I prized most in the earlier books was his reliance on his friends, and the lesson that loyalty and honesty are valuable traits. It's not so clear in this one. Harry doubts everything and everyone, all the time. His outbursts, while understandable, grow old after a while. He spends a great deal of this book shouting at anyone who will listen. Ron and Hermione take a lot of abuse in this installment. (and honestly, every boy should have a friend like Hermione to translate when encountering girls!) Yes, all of this is part of growing up, and really was understandable, I guess I just wish the angst had been a little less overwhelming. One of the better parts of this book is an even larger view of the Wizard world, with forays into the Ministry of Magic, a wizard house right in London, and more glimpses into the Weasley family life. Of course it has a killer fight at the end (no pun intended!) and even though he reveals imperfection, I'm more in love with Dumbledore than ever. The story seems to be setting up the next two, so I still can't wait to read them. I just hope Harry has matured (mellowed?) even more, as the books seem to do with each progressive installment.

Summary: An amazingly awesome fifth installment!
Review: She's done it again. I didn't think she'd be able to outdo herself - Prizoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire were extremely well done. But here, Rowling goes and gives us the Order of the Phoenix and demonstrates just how great of an author she is. With conspiracies and secrets and plenty of psychological angst (especially for Harry), after just having finished this 800 page book after recieving it Sunday, I'm afraid I'll find myself reading it again very soon. Well done, Rowling!

Summary: When's Book 6 coming out?
Review: Having received The Order of the Phoenix on Sunday, I rushed and read it just about cover to cover. I have to say, that for the most part, Rowling continues the tradition she has laid out over the first four books. Her portrayal of Harry as a teenager is dead on. Anyone who ever was or knows a teen would agree. Importantly, this book answers many of the questions that were on the minds of Potter fans while opening us up to new ones. My one criticism of this current installment is the straight forward nature of the story being told. For the first time, Rowling failed to add a twist towards the end of the book, making the climactic scene while very enjoyable, somewhat predictable. However, I still find myself sitting here wondering when is book 6 coming out?
