Summary: Harry has changed quite a bit
Review: In his 5th year at Hogwarts, Harry must deal with the reality that He Who Must Not Be Named has come back to life. The problem is that most of the wizarding world doesn't believe him. The Ministry of Magic is dead set on discrediting Harry and Dumbledore so they send a High Inquisitor to Hogwarts. Harry must also study for his O.W.Ls and he must try and understand the most confusing thing of all... girls.

The 5th Harry Potter novel was well worth the long wait. J. K. Rowling has mastered writing a novel of this size as this one flows much better then the last. Harry has changed quite a bit as well. He's in a much darker mood and is now prone to violent outbursts. Many of the other characters get a lot of development as well, especially Neville, Snape, and Sirius. All in all this is my second favorite of all the Harry Potter novels. I can't wait for the next one but I hope J. K. Rowling is given enough time to make it as good as this one.

Summary: An outright disappointment.
Review: (spoilers ahead) 870 pages of what? Well, nothing really. The only bit of interest is the dreams Harry keeps having. Which everyone understands, but nobody bothers to explain to Harry that it is most likely a trap. And in the end these dreams turn out to be an elaborate plan by Voldemort to get a prophecy that everybody already knows. If that's all Rowling was going to give us, she could've done it in 200 pages.

Summary: J.K. Rowling Did it Again With Another Page Turner
Review: First of all this book was excellent I could hardly put it down.It only took me 2 days to read it.The storyline was superb, but did not have as much mystery as the last four have had.The book starts out at harry lying in flower bed listening to the Dursley's TV for any signs of strange occurrences.A Chapter later 2 dementors come to Privet Drive Searching for Harry and attack him and his cousin Duddley. He is sent several owls from the Ministry that he is sentenced to trial for using magic in the muggle world since he is under age.
Later On Sirius,Mad Eye Moody,Lupin and Others Come to take Harry to a special orgination fighting against You know Who where they stay for the remainder of the summer. At the start of the school term there is a new teacher for the defense against the dark arts who is total agony for Harry.Your Worst Nightmare.
Hagrid does not come into the story till about half way.He Tells Harry,Hermione, and Ron that he was in the mountains of Dijon,France searching for his mother, but instead finds someone else instead. This Year is Harry's O.W.L. Ornidary Wizarding Levels as well as the rest of 5th Years.Several times Harry has strange nightmares where he can see the future and is right. The last dream he has is very tragic.Saddest part of this book is when a semi-important person dies.I would tell you who but then that would ruin it for you. This is such a long book at 870 pages it's hard to give a fully detailed description. If you have the time this book is definetly worth reading.***** Five Stars

Summary: Best Harry Potter book yet
Review: This is the best Harry Potter book yet. Really, it's amazingly good. I had tears in my eyes many times throughout the story. I only wish it could have been longer--now that I'm finished with it, I really miss reading it. I'm extremely grateful to J.K. Rowling for having written this book, because reading it was one of the most wonderful experiences I've ever had.

Summary: Not the Best of the Five, but Still a Great Book
Review: J.K. Rowling has done it again. Order of the Phoenix was a highly enjoyable book full of ups and downs and could match any soap opera for the amount of drama it contained. Though I wouldn't necessarily say that the fifth book was the best of the five...It was still a great book that I would highly recommend to anyone. The series has been full of adventure and while this book certainly has it...it seems a bit more subdued. I can't see this one being a movie as it seems much more of a drama than the action packed plots of the previous four books. If you're a Harry Potter fan you will definitely enjoy Order of the Phoenix. IF you're new to the series you will definitely need to start with Book 1 as each book builds off of the previous volume.

Summary: A more serious tone, but could have been pulled off better
Review: It seems to me that as the covers of the books have been getting progressively less vivid, the content has been following suit.

Though I didn't find this installment that bad - the book has its redeeming qualities - I found this one harder to read and easier to put down than the first four.
1. There seems to be less depth in the characters all around. There is more describing what the characters do than how they feel about it or how they feel in general. Maybe it's an attempt to shorten the book but it also takes away some of its richness.
2. Harry gets mad waaaaay too much. This may be a way of showing he is maturing but it makes him seem really shallow and not self-sufficient.
3. The other characters do not learn from their mistakes. Like the above point, everyone else seems to want to just prove their point and have no regard for others' feelings. It's mentioned in books 4 and 5 that Voldemort's return will cause turmoil and friction but it seems the characters are hardly aware of this. It would have been better if they came to acknowledge their mistakes at some point. But as it is it's hard not to pity the characters' and the series' worsening condition.
4. There is less of the characteristic "Harry Potter" charm: Crazy spells, items, characters, discoveries, conversations. This book definitely has a more serious tone.

I understand that Rowling is trying to make the last few books darker but in this one she seemed to have sacrificed the fun that made them enjoyable to read. What I was really kinda hoping for in the end would be the characters all looking back and reflecting and growing upon what they learned over the year. With suffering must come learning - otherwise, as we see in this book it is all drab and regret. Writing a 900 page book would definitely be draining and if shortening the next ones will make them more lively I hope Rowling does so. No one is demanding a book thicker than it is wide! Not that I'm complaining about everything in this book. Other than the things mentioned above I think it has pretty much kept up the reputation of the previous ones.

Summary: Book 6 please!
Review: Another adventure at Hogwarts is over and I can't wait until the next one. Order of the Pheonix (O.F.) seems to encompass everything that the Harry Potter books are supposed to be about...mystery, magic, friends, and growing up. More than the other books, O.F. brings us into the mind of a 15 year old boy and allows us to experience all the emotional termoil that comes with it. Overall this book might be more difficult to read for someone who is new to the Potter series, but if thats the case then starting at Book 1 will definately be worth the effort.

Summary: Harry Potter Five review
Review: I think that this was a great book, this book made me keep turning the pages, all 890 of them! J.K. Rowling did an great job of getting my emotions involved with the story and made me feel a handful of emotions for Harry; pride, happiness, fear and such. For example, when Harry got kissed on the cheek from a long time crush it made my day. But as with some books so there are several tragedies. This is a great book, but I would suggest that no one under the age of 13 read it. Some children under this age might not be able to cope with the loss that Harry undergoes.

Summary: Absolutely amazing...
Review: I admit, I am 17 years old. I don't care, however. I am the type of person who likes to see what all the fuss is about, which is why I started reading Harry Potter in the first place. I actually enjoyed it, being a huge fan of Lord of the Rings also. Anyway, I finished the book less than a couple hours ago. It explains MUCH more about the history of Harry and why Voldemort decided to attack him. I am feeling slightly depressed though because there actually is a death of a main character, but I wouldn't dream of telling who. You have to read the book for yourself, provided you have read the others. This one is a lot different than the others in the series, but it is kind of hard to exactly explain how. There are many things happening at once and sometimes I had to read certain sections a few times to understand what was going on. Back to the point though...THIS IS A MUST-READ!! There is simply no excuse not to read it.

Summary: Dumbledore's Army
Review: The 5th book of the Harry Potter series doesn't take long to get intresting. The very first chapter has an unexpected attack in it by two Dementors on Harry and Dudley. Harry fights off the two Dementors and gets exspelled from Hogwarts....or does he?
Later in the book, the evil toadlike Professor Umbridge ("hem, hem") has Harry in Detention with a quill that requires no ink. Everybody (or mostly everybody) doesn't believe Harry or Dumbledore that Lord Voldemort has come back. Professor Umbridge is made High Inquistor of Hogwarts and later she replaces Albus Dumbledore as the headmistress of Hogwarts. After Professor Umbridge is Headmistress, the students rebel. Fred and George soon leave Hogwarts, rather then being tortured by the caretaker.
Soon Hagrid runs off like Albus Dumbledore and poor Professor McGonall gets hit by four stunning spells in the chest. Better than the 4th book!
