Review: Having just passed through tax season, and with daughter approaching her second birthday, I've had a nagging feeling that I ought to be doing something about saving for college. I'd heard about 529 plans, but the number of different plans made them seem overwhelming. Now Harold Simansky's book has set me straight.

I found it easy to read, with sort chapters, good examples, pictures, and charts. Now I have a clear idea of how to save for my daughter's education, and also how her grandparents can best contribute.

We're going to fully fund our retirements accounts (401K, Roth IRAs), lobby the grandparents to set up 529 plans for our daughter, and then revisit matters if we have anything cash left over. It may not pay for everything, but we'll have made our best and smartest effort thanks to "College Costs How Much".

The book is a must-read for anyone with kids who is worrying about how to save for college.

Review: This is just the book I was looking for! I have tried other books and websites, but this is the only resource I have found that is easy to understand and provides ALL the information to actually develop a complete plan for my kid's college.

Another big plug for this book is it's simply written and clearly laid-out. At first, I was overwhelmed by all the intricacies of savings and all the information out there that I ended up backing off from the whole thing. With this book, I wasn't intimidated to pick it up and get going. I took it a chapter at a time, and it ended up being much easier than I thought. I would even say it was fun to read and feel like I was learning something and taking charge of my own money. Bottom line is this book helped me be a responsible parent. My kids will be better off thanks to this book.
