Summary: Great Reminder!
Review: Dr. Orange provides a "great reminder" of all the things we shouldn't do and some of the things we should do as teachers! It'll be a good book to keep on the shelf and go back and re-read in the years to come.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Moldable Teacher
Review: Having read this book in my 4th year as a teacher, I wish I would have come in contact with it my rookie year. The horror stories detailed in this book alllowed me to take a good, hard look at myself and my colleaques. Often times, we allow the moment to get away from us and our instincts do not always manifest themselves in a glorious light. Dr. Orange's book revealed the "other" side of the coin and I am eternally grateful for it.

Summary: A book every future teacher should read!
Review: I have read this book and think it is wonderful and I reccommend that everyone who is planning to become a teacher read this book. It is full of examples of mistakes that teachers make in the classrooms that have a great impact in children's lives. Teachers often ignore the fact that what they bring into the classrooms wheather good or bad, has a temendous influence in their students.

Summary: What's It All About Anyway?
Review: Interestingly, we find as teachers that many of the scenarios in this book have been part of our experience. I would say that a new teacher who has not yet experienced some of the problems outlined in the book would only be able to relate to their own experiences as a student. Interestingly enough many of my college professors fall into the same traps as elementary and secondary teachers. Having taught for 15 years, I find many of my own experiences within these pages. It is beneficial to consider another's viewpoint and try to learn from our own mistakes as to how to avoid some of the trauma we have caused to students - many times unwittingly.

The foundation for her prescriptions seems to be a mix of common sense and an awareness of others' feelings. When in the heat of the moment one finds themselves in a "trap," similar to a scenario in the book, it helps to get a different perspective on things and reflect as to how to handle things differently. The best benefit of the book is to consider one's weaknesses or problems in the past and through self-analysis, look for a "plan" as to how to handle things differently the next time. Being prepared for problems before they arise, is the bet prescription for avoiding embarassment or academic trauma to a student.

Summary: Waist of Money!
Review: This book by Dr. Orange is a book all who teach need to read before they step into a class room. Some of the scenarios are shocking. The scariest part is that most everyone can relate to some of these scenarios. Any person that goes into teaching should be made aware of how much they are affecting another persons life. This book illustrates how not to make the same mistakes these teachers made.A must read!!!

Summary: Every Teacher Needs This Book!
Review: This book is an excellent portrayal of situations that have gone on and continue to happen in our classrooms every day. The mistakes that teachers make have huge effects on our students. This book makes you think about how what you say or do to your students will affect them in the long run. I remember a lot of these insidences happening in school when I was young and nothing was ever done about it. This book now brings those situations into the open and tells ways to avoid them. Every teacher needs to read this book so that they do not make those very same mistakes. I really enjoyed reading this book, there were times when I my eyes got watery just thinking about how the people felt whent hey were kids.

This is truly a fantastic book!

Summary: Waist of Money!
Review: This book is obviously so out dated and boring! I couldn't give it away! I would bet all the reviews giving this book excellent reviews were written by students of the author who wanted to make points with her. I can't think of any teacher today with all the training received who would actualy do any of the things mentioned. I would give this book half a star if I could. One star was for the author's effort!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Not just for teachers
Review: When I started reading this book, I could not put it down. I am not an education major but still found this book very resourceful. This is helpful for anyone who works with children or has children of their own. I don't want to make any of these mistakes with my children. The scenarios of teachers mistakes are true stories. Dr. Orange's valuable advice (written as Rx, to remedy each scenario) is so well written and thought out. Most importantly, this book is simple and good to read. Before you know it, you are at the end of the book. I highly recommend this book!!
