Rating: Summary: A Must Read for Start-up Company Executives Review: I found this book to be extremely helpful and encouraging. I came from a large brokerage- company before founding a start-up, and I was in no mood for techno-jargon or high-falutin' investment banker speak. I found none in Linda's book. Instead I learned that while we have a long way to go with our company, we have done a lot of the basic and most important things correctly. This is important for baby-entepreneurs like us to hear, because the myriad tasks we face each day are daunting and, at times, overwhelming. This book also has shown us what areas we need to improve on before we tap the capital markets to expand our business. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is about to seek outside investors for his or her company, and wants to learn the ropes quickly yet thoroughly. It is easy to read, but it doesn't gloss-over or skip any important areas. This book is fanstastic as both a primer and as an evaluation tool for entrepreneurs.
Rating: Summary: pretty good book; makes many relevant points. Review: I read Linda Chandler's book after meeting her at the ComDex Computer Show. I found her book very enlightening, and she got straight to the heart of the matter--the challenge of raising adequate amounts of capital for a fast growth, startup venture. I know cuz I've been there several times. I give this book 5 stars. It covers many critical points that most early stage companies overlook.
Rating: Summary: VERY INFORMATIVE! Review: I recently ordered this book and read it from cover to cover. The tips I found inside Chandler's book were practical and most helpful to an entrepreneur like me who is seeking capital for my new venture. I hope Linda writes a sequel to this book.
Rating: Summary: It's ok, but there are better Review: I wanted to become more educated on the topic of high-tech startups, so I ordered a few from amazon.com (High Tech Startup, Engineering you Startup, plus this one). After reading the other 2 books, I found little additional benefit from this one. I skimmed quite a bit, and skipped large portions of chapters. In all fairness, if you read this book first it would probably be useful (though I'd recommend High Tech Startup instead).
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING BOOK ON CAPITAL RAISING Review: Reading your book made me feel like I was watching "Perfect Storm" for the first time. It made me laugh, and made me smile. It opened my eyes and frightened me. There were parts that depressed me, and areas that were uplifting. Thank you for your time and more importantly, thank you for your book. Without it, like those who have came before me and will come after me I would have never found the answers to my questions.
Rating: Summary: All excitement and no substance Review: The book is mediocre at best and contains very little insightful beyond what common sense would tell you or what is avaiable for free on the web. If you read the five star reviews carefully you can tell by the way they are worded that they have been likely crafted by press agents, note both language and anonymity. It would be very disappointing to find that someone would work so little on writing a decent book and so much on trying to cheat to get ahead.
Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING BOOK ON CAPITAL RAISING Review: This book is a keeper. Ms. Chandler has written an excellent book on how business owners can raise capital for a new startup or to expand their current business. I read this book from cover-to-cover and found it refreshing, original and to-the-point. I plan to re-read sections so that I can really grasp the concepts the author is conveying. From reading this book, I can really see how Ms. Chandler spent 20 plus years in investment banking.
Rating: Summary: Negative Reviews Almost Made Me Miss An Excellent Book Review: Your better off buying a blank book. A waste of time and money. Nothing an average business person doest already know...
