Rating: Summary: CareerXRoads-The place to start your job search on the web. Review: I am a career management consultant. The first two suggestions I give all new job seekers at any levels is to get a copy of CareerXRoads and get some business cards printed.
Rating: Summary: CareerXrRoads Review: I have found that CareerXRoads is the bible for a good job search, using the internet; Obviously it is a great help in finding Internet sites where the right jobs are posted. But better than that, it tells you where to post your resume and how to post it, using the right format, key words, etc.As a Career Coach, I recommend this book to all of my clients. And, even more critical, as a Recruiter, this book is where I go to find the hard to find candidates. CareerXRaods is both on my desk and another copy is in my attache. I am even thinking of giving my kids each a copy on their birthdays. Richard Stone Human Resources Consultant
Rating: Summary: Saves me time Review: Job searching on the Internet had become so popular that it's impossible to keep up with all of the resources available today. Since some sites are better and/or more relevant to a job seeker than others, it pays to have a resource like this "web bible". And no one I've seen is more current and knowledgeable about what's on the 'Net than Crispin and Mehler.
Rating: Summary: Navigating the World Wide Recruiting Web Review: Many of the books that address recruiting take the stance of either recruiter or job seeker. Crispin and Mehler have created a unique blend of information that is pertinent to both seller and buyer, and actually cross the fence to provide each with useful insights into the needs of the other. The concept of infinity has become a strange reality to those who conduct business on the world wide web. Nowhere does its confusing vastness seem as enticing and overwhelming as when navigating the myriad of recruitment sites. This is both true to the recruiter who attempts to maximize limited expenditure to find a sufficient number of qualified candidates to present to a hiring manager, and to the job seeker who must decide where to place limited time and energy in the hope of finding a suitable match. CareerXroads 2002 starts with a series of articles on how to conduct a productive job search and manage a cost-effective recruitment campaign to take full advantage of specified resources on the web. The authors list and describe support sites such as those that provide career advice and company information in preparation for interview. They also list right across the gammett the various job sites, classifying each according to such features as specialism, location, ability and cost of resume posting and access, and numbers of jobs. Armed with this book, even in a down job market, the individual has the opportunity to get into play, define an appropriate strategy, and most importantly, identify those resources which can jump start what might otherwise appear to be a daunting, slow, risky and unproductive process.
Rating: Summary: Best of Class Review: Mark and Gerry get better every year. Career X Roads 2002 takes the best of previous efforts and "kicks it up a notch". This is an easy to use reference that is a must in all job seakers and and recruiters. A copy belongs in all HR offices. Evaluations are direct, current and on target. Great job!

Rating: Summary: The BEST resource a job seeker could have Review: The absolute resource for every person looking for a job and for every recruiter looking for candidates. This is a must have for those in job search. Beyond the thorough reviews of every possible career website, easily cross-referenced by specialty and industry and location, there are helpful tips from experts, and a listing of corporation staffing pages. The value of the information that Crispin and Mehler have compiled from both the perspective of the job searcher and recruiter makes the purchase price AN ABSOLUTE BARGAIN.
Rating: Summary: Successful Recruiters Will Use This Book Review: The CareerXRoads series by Gerry Crispin and Mark Mehler should be a reference book that every recruiter buys. I am a recruiter with almost 22 years of experience and since 1998, I have purchased CareerXRoads. It is that good. Candidates who want to use the Internet to find their next position will also find these books very helpful. Gerry and Mark include informative articles for recruiters and job seekers alike at the beginning of the book. Then they dive into the Internet and review websites that are job, resume, and career management sites. Their reviews are very helpful. Recruiters, this book helps you determine where to spend your time and/or money to find niche sites to conduct searches. They also will suggest when a site may just be a waste of time. Candidates, Gerry and Mark help you organize your job search. Their list of niche sites may help you zero in on companies who do what you want to do. Then, you may apply online or try to network your way into an interview. Bottom line, if you are a recruiter or a candidate, purchase CareerXRoads. Bill Humbert www.recruiterguy.com
