Summary: Tells the truth, gets hated, keeps telling the truth
Review: Farrell once again drops a bomb on the feminist dogma that has damaged so many people. The hatchet attacks regarding his past on here are merely amusing to someone who understands his story, this is a man who was highly praised and held up by feminists while he followed the cult. However he came to see how fake it all was and now speaks the truth. Ironically feminists themselves now throw his pro-feminist writing in his face in an attempt to smear him! Check out the uncensored version of the Vagina Monologues to see where he came from - and why he is so vehemently opposed to that way of thinking today.

Happily he shows little anger in his writing, instead it is as warm and fair-minded as his previous non-feminist work. It's taken him a few years but this book was worth the weight, top-rate research while bringing the facts to life. It's no surprise this man could not remain a conventional feminist, the 'sisterhood' hate him for 'betraying' them but all he does is speak the truth. The book has many useful soundbites, a greate debate killer. Highly recommended. Will soon be adding it to politically-incorrect-books.com as a classic!

Check out his other stuff, especially the Myth of Male Power, itself a classic.

Summary: Who's got an agenda here?
Review: I can't believe there are men out there who are so disgruntled and unhappy with themselves that they look to those awful feminists to blame. What a bunch of horsepucky! Why does there have to be this sense of unfairness? It reminds me of toddlers screaming that someone took THEIR job, and it's not fair! Get a grip, guys: the fact remains that women are still earning less than men in the same jobs, no matter what the reasons. Things ARE getting better for women, actually, but, jeez, chill out, guys! What purpose does such a diatribe serve anyway?

Summary: So whats all the fuss been about????
Review: I guess the stuff in this book isn't that shocking... unless you had been taken in by the notion that any company would hire one gender who are more expensive for the same job!
Farrell is always spot on with his disection on 'gender issues'.
His works act like a sponge to the cultural flooding from feminist myths and ideologies.

Summary: Realistic and Straightforward
Review: In Why Men Earn More than Women, Dr. Warren Farrell applies the same rigorous research and understanding to the topic that he brought to his previous books, such as Why Men Are the Way They Are, and The Myth of Male Power. This is an important, serious book for anyone who is vitally concerned about the compensation gap between men and women, and is interested in focusing on the real issues instead of decade long smokescreens offered by many groups.
As Dr. Farrell so eloquently explains, the earnings gap has far less to do with bias and discrimination and much more to do with determination, hours worked and gender predispositions. This is not the truth that many people would prefer to accept, but as time and reality marches on, there will be no alternative.
This book, like Dr. Farrell's previous books, is not merely insightful and a good read, it is a time capsule for society and future generations who may yet to be struggling with vital gender issues.

Summary: The Hard Work of Equality
Review: The title of this book may sound self-justifying by a male author. To the contrary, and typical of all of Dr. Farrell's books, this book stands in equal service to both men and women. Unmarried men may not like the news of this book any more than women. It calls both to the challenging work performance standards of those whose pay exceeds theirs, and shatters the grounds for any easy excuses or claims of bias or discrimination. Thus, you will find this book in the career development and/or business sections of book stores. It is that practical that it will serve anyone inquiring into career success.
Sadly, in spite of his profound contributions to securing balanced rights and responsibilities for men, women and children in all six of his books, Dr. Farrell's cutting edge insightfulness of gender inequities has brought terrible villivication and misrepresentation of his words and ideas. He is frequently completely misquoted and has had insights crudely taken out of context. I encourage all readers to check the sources of such ugliness so that his loving contributions to gender relations in this country are not diminished.

Summary: A great more-than-self-help book!
Review: This book is excellent! Expect MORE from Why Men Earn More. This isn't just another self-help book. This is a revolutionary book that can affect many lives, perspectives and even the economy - with thought provoking wisdom AND statistical data (plenty of that!), you will find this book to be a valuable asset for your life - for your daughters' (and sons) as well. Great job on this one Warren, keep up the good work!

Summary: Warren-on-the-Warpath
Review: This is the latest in Warren Farrell's expose' of the myths of feminism and the damage such has done to both sexes. This work actually has less of a hard edge initially, but then Warren reverts to his pointed comments, most of which, incidentally, are pretty much on target.

Warren does his research and lends his voice to an overlooked cause. I recommend this book because it states what other authors in this field either don't know or are not inclined to say. Once you get this book, I'd then go to Myth of Male Power, Why Men Are the Way They Are, Women Can't Hear What Men Don't Say, and Father and Child Reunion. All Warren's books are very readable and contain his trademark humor in spots. If you want to know what is really going on in this field, Warren is a good source. Highly recommended.

Summary: Wow ! ! ! This is Amazing
Review: We've all heard for years that the average woman earns less than the average man but rarely does the conversation or the article go beyond the basic soundbite. Farrell's book is the first to look seriously at the ways in which individuals can move from wage rage to top of the page in the earnings rankings. If you or your spouse, sister, daughter or any one else wants to earn more and end the pay gap, you'll read this book. If you are an employer, you'll learn what it takes to be fair to all workers. If you are a government official looking to understand the dynamics of the wage market, you need this book. Read this book.

Summary: A refreshing reality check!
Review: What a wonderful book this is: it boldy documents the little-discussed truth about the differences between the choices men and women make with regard to work and how these differences yield different results in earned income. This book is potentially very empowering for women -- yea, indeed for anyone -- who wishes to earn more.

I am a man who works full time as a secretary -- a predominantly female profession -- in a large New York corporate law firm, earning a small fraction of the wages paid to the high-powered attorneys I work for, which includes females. Unlike them, I usually get to leave work at 5:00, I usually sleep 8 hours each night, I have time to go to the gym, and though I must fly economy class when I go away on vacation, at least I am able to take the full amount of vacation time allotted to me each year by our employer (unlike most of the attornyes). Moreover, I am not paid any more or less than any of fellow secretaries who are female. Happily, I am not saddled with a narcissistic mindset that insists that I ought to be paid as much as our bosses. It is plainly obvious to me that they work harder, make larger sacrifices for their careers and perform work that is more important than secretaries'.

I can enjoy my life, albeit in a modest way, and feel grateful that, because I am single and do not have to support a family, I am essentially free to do as I please. The trade-off is not getting married and having children. I accept the simple reality that one must make choices in life, and thinking I ought to be able to have things any which way I want would be self-defeating, nihilistic nonsense.

Dr. Farrell's book cogently supports these perceptions.

If money were more important to me than it is, I would follow Farrell's advice. Any person in a similar situation -- male or female -- wanting or needing more income would be well-advised to follow his excellent recommendations.

Summary: total bs...puts women back about 50 years
Review: working in a high stress casino postion I have seen women with better educations and job reviews earn LESS than men..because of the mind set of *men need it more* , tell that to single moms busting their butts working 40-60 hours a week doing a better job than many of their male counterparts yet earning less. Todays women do not have *trophy* degrees as this author seems to suggest nor does the fact of being male give them any entitlement as he also suggests to a higher salary.
This book is a slap in the face to all women working toward a better life and taking pride in the fact they are not lazy little princesses waiting for the knight to come take care of them.
The most sexist book I have seen in a long time.
