Rating: Summary: Lawrence Brahm Mixed Review Review: I am nearly finished reading Zhu Rongji & the Transformation of Modern China and must say I have mixed reactions. The book is interesting for its chronology of the major events and milestones in China's recent history leading up to entry into WTO. The book provides a lot of interesting Chinese for my crib notes to use in meetings with Chinese party and private officials in Beijing and Shanghai -- which is a testament of the author's knowledge of the terrain and people. I do not recall any critical reference of Zhu or Zhu policy so I must conclude that to a certain extent Mr Brahm's writing is not unbiased and written with dual - self serving purpose. There is also little documentation and no formal references listed anywhere.
