Summary: The Power of Knowledge
Review: This book is a staple to any man inundated with the constant stream of misconceptions of what the male body should be. It is so hard to know where to begin amongst all the clothing ads, music videos, and movie stars.

For me, I was always daunted by the myriad of tanned-to-a-crisp hardbodies in speedos trying to sell me supplements, or the approach of extremely high-priced personal trainers. What was missing was my own knowledge of fitness. This book gives you the power of knowledge. Every part of this book, from the actual training to the lifestyle sections, provides a solid, basic knowledge of fitness that is practical.

Also, if you are a straight male who is slightly bothered by the hint of homoeroticism in the photographs, I urge you to grow up. The pictures are artistic and inspiring. They display a broad range of body types that, again, help the reader to expand his own knowledge.

Summary: Great book for beginners
Review: This is an excellent fitness book. My son has just joined a gym for the first time and is very excited about it all. I wanted to give him a good basic book to get him started. This book had everything I was looking for, until I noticed the pictures of a bare hairy hiney and unnecessarily bulging genitalia. And this was yesterday (12/15/03) that I was poring over various fitness books, not some time in the past. I found this very off-putting and feel my son would feel the same. So reluctantly, I have decided NOT to purchase this book. If anyone has suggestions about other books I could check out, I would appreciate it.
