Summary: I loved this book.
Review: Great for the investor just starting out and for the seasoned investor who thinks he knows it all but probably doesn't. Worth the money for the first half of the book on the psychology of the markets alone. Recommended.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Includes points on obsessive traits
Review: For me, in particular, there was a revelation contained in the pages of this book. I had never realized how obsessive and potentially addictive a personality I had. In discussing the topic of losing, the author makes an analogy to alcoholism. How, for some, their personalities fall prey to the power of alcohol. So, to summarize on this, please be wary if you are the type capable of such focus that you think of nothing but the market day and night. Alcohol may appear as an innocent escape. But it is a destroyer in a sweet mantle. Anywho, fine book. Valuable for its hard-nosed presentation of the nature of trading and traders. Anyone seeking anything approaching a well-rounded appreciation of the topic of trading has got have this one.

Summary: 2ND READING REVIEW * * * * *
Review: I have to say after reading Dr. Elders book for the second time, I am even more impressed with the wealth of knowledge and understanding of what makes the markets move. I prefer the triple screen method that is presented. This book covers all of the basic knowledge for the beginner as well as the experienced trader. If you are new to trading you will find this an excellent source to build your dreams on. I believe study is the key to sucess in any endeavor. This book is easy to read and you will be amazed at the insight you will gain as to the day to day operation of the markets. I think it is important to decide on what method makes the most sense to your trading style and then learn all you can about it. The more knowledge you have the better decisions you make. I find the hardest part being money management. I have to control my urge to follow my gambling impulse to bet the farm on what looks good in the charts. Even though I know it is a sure way to loose in the market. This is a game of the most interesting kind that changes on a moment by moment basis. What a great way to make money. My word of advice on any trade where you have the slightest doubt of why you are in it is to GET OUT IMEDIATLEY ! . If you do not know why you are in a trade and what you expect to happen and why, then you are guessing. If guessing is what you like to do go to Las Vegas and have a great time. Best to you all in trading. If anyone has a real-time quote service they are proud to have please let me know who they are. Thanks

Summary: No Future in Illusions
Review: Shortly after reading Elder for the first time, I read the 1923 classic "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator." Elder's methodology and all else concerning trading fell into place for me:

Avoid tips - no matter how "trustworthy." Develop a systematic approach and grow with it. Remarkably little has changed in 80 (160?) years per blunders I've made, read of or see others making now. I admire Elder's lucid, tough-minded approach to the market. Triumphs and pratfalls are put aside.

I will savor the books by Dr. Elder, Larry Williams, Edwin LeFevre throughout my days, improve my trading, enjoy my family vastly and roundfile those slick, inviting guarantees of easy money which besiege us all.

Many Thanks, Dr. Elder.

Summary: Content Rich
Review: As with all good books, this one speaks to you on multiple levels. As a beginner 3 years ago, it was one of the first books that really made sense to me. Now, as a veteran trader I find additional insights every time I browse through it again. In between, it has helped refresh, reenforce, and remind me of lessons you just can't understand without actual experience. One of the best books in my trading library.

Summary: Really a bad book
Review: Has the author spammed 60 reviews? I wonder, really a bad and not a useful book. If you want a pet rock this is the book for you.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A very useful, must have book.
Review: One of the best books for beginners to start with. It teaches a novice trader all trading fundamentals in an easy to understand language and helps to avoid all those perils that ambush beginners in the markets. At the same time this book can provide more experienced traders with an arm's length reference guide covering all major topics of modern trading including trading system design, on-line data sources, and complex computerized analytical tools. Those who find this book superficial and lightweight, I would like to address to the time when they were starting their trading activities. What kind of guidance were they looking for at those times? Probably the same as Dr.Elder's book gives those who start today. Would those people have appreciated the book if it came when they were loosing money?

Recommendation: =Strong Buy=

Summary: A sobering experience for sloppy traders..and a must read!
Review: Buy this book. Read it thoroughly. Repeat step 2 as needed for best effect.

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK - Unless you plan to make MONEY
Review: Three friends and I have purchased this book. We have developed a system using three of the indicators referenced by Dr. Elder and have profited from them. We have yet to hit the mother load but that's not the point of the book. We are systematically receiving average profits, which keep us in the market. Many thanks to Dr. Elder for bringing this book to market!
