Summary: Top of the list
Review: Reviews seem to be overwhelmingly enthusiastic about this book. It is fully justified. Enjoyable, enlightning, the first trading book I actually read from cover to cover. Lent it to a friend and I can't get it back as he keeps re-reading it.

Summary: Best Wishes for Successful Trading
Review: Dear Trader,

Thank you for reading my book and leaving your wonderful comments here. I am happy to see that so many people in different countries are benefiting from my work. I had put my heart, soul and more than three years of my life into writing this book, but never imagined that my baby will become so popular. Thank you!

Traders sometimes ask what has changed in my approach since TRADING FOR A LIVING was published. My key ideas on trading psychology remain valid - the human nature changes slowly, for better or worse. My ideas on technical analysis have stood the test of time, and I still trade the Triple Screen system. Of course, I continue to tweak its parameters, striving to improve my performance. The one thing I'd do differently if I were writing this book today, I'd cover a bit less of technical analysis and write a lot more about risk control and money management.

Readers of TRADING FOR A LIVING often ask what else I can do to help them become better traders. Several times a year I run a Traders' Camp, taking a small group of traders to a resort where we spend a week learning to analyze markets, find good trades, and develop better trading techniques. If you'd like to receive a video clip of our Camp, please email me.

Best wishes for successful trading!

Dr. Alexander Elder New York, 1999

Summary: Very good
Review: The section on cutting losses short is very important. Some good insight into individual psychology while investing.

Summary: Excellent for the Day-trader
Review: I am a new S&P futures day-trader and I wouldn't have had half the success had I not read this book. I constantly reference this book as well as Pring's book on TA. This book was masterfully put together given that it has technically sound material yet not the least bit boring.

Summary: A great book for the starter!
Review: If you want to survive in this dog-eat-dog world of stock market, this is a must have book. It prepares you mentally in dealing with the adversities in the day to day trading operation. In addition, it reveals useful tactics to succeed in the business. This is a book to keep and constantly review the principles outline within.

Summary: Good Primer for beginner/intermediate traders
Review: I just finished reading this book, and I am definitely glad I bought it...worth the price!

The first section on trader mass psychology was great. I found the psychology of rallies/declines particularly useful.

I was also able to see aspects of my own trading behavior in a new light, and am better able to guard against self-destructive behavior (panic, gambling, misplaced hope on losing stock).

The section on technical analysis was (I believe) intended to be a primer, more useful to the novice than the pro. However, now I can make much more sense of market data. I liked the one-page summary-and-chart for each indicator...he points out divergences and some buy/sell points...I'm going to keep those handy for reference.

He *was* a bit repetitive, saying things like "move stops up for long trades, move stops down for short trades" and "price is a consensus of value at that point between bulls and bears" and such for many of the sections. But then again, I *do* need to beat these ideas into my head, or the market will do it for me!

Review: IF YOU PLAN TO GET INTO TRADING YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A serious trader should reread this book every 3 months.
Review: The best book I've read on trading, and I've read a few. There's a lesson on every page. I started to highlight, with a yellow marker, the good points in this book, but the whole book would have been yellow when I finished. I reread it every three months!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very good book
Review: Good book for starting out and for building discipline. It's easy to make money quick in a bull market and lose it all back to a correction.
