Summary: To My readers
Review: I thank the many thousands of people who have purchased and profited from my books, and those who have taken the time to write a review. But I'd like to make one correction: I do not "work for" Microsoft. I write columns for their www.MoneyCentral.com website and moderate a discussion board there, for which I am compensated. But I am also paid to write columns for the Chicago Sun-Times, Barrons Online and Mature Outlook Magazine, as well. I also do commentaries for PBS' Nightly Business Report, for which I am paid. Further, I made every effort to mention Quicken software every time I mentioned Microsoft's Money product -- except where describing different features. I pride myself on my reputation for independent journalism and hold myself to the highest standards. Sincerely, Terry Savage PS Couldn't post a review without stars!

Summary: You must have this book!
Review: If you are trying to get ahead financally this book is written to help you. This book encourages the use of your personal computer and internet access to get and use information to your advantage. The discussions on Roth IRAs and investments are clear and easy to understand. This is a book you will want to keep on the shelf for reference.

Summary: Not a Book, Just a Microsoft Advertisement
Review: If you want to pay for a Microsoft advertisement, then this book is for you. Otherwise, choose a money book written by someone who isn't shilling for a company.

Summary: Paid Flack For Microsoft
Review: Ms. Savage purports to be a journalist and objective financial planner. Yet if you read her book or see her show, where she blatantly and unrelentingly plugs Microsoft products, you would never know that she is on Microsoft's payroll. Come on Terry, if you're going to line your pockets with corporate money, why don't you have the courage to disclose the names of your benefactors and why you're plugging their products?

Summary: Self-serving Author Review
Review: Ms. Savage takes money from Microsoft while touting their products and then writes a self-serving explanation.

And SHE GIVES HERSELF 5 STARS in the process!

AUDACITY BUT NO ETHICS.

Summary: Exploiting women's fears for her profit
Review: Ms. Savage thinks that by throwing in the word "emotion" women will think this book "talks to them." This is a calculated attempt to profit from women's fears about money. Even Oprah did NOT buy it! Better books were written by Jane Bryant Quinn and Peter Lynch.

Summary: Clear, Practical and Relevant
Review: Terry Savage presents a good primer for those unitiated or intimidated by the world of finance and money management as well as those who could use some alternate insights. It gives good advice that can carry though different economic realities. As a financial advisor I am amazed at the number of individuals who ASK for specific allocations that parallel the rationale Terry presents. Good stuff.

Summary: Outstanding book! Ignore the JBQ shill.
Review: The Savage Truth on Money is a well written and highly informative money management book. Unlike say Making the most of your money by Quinn which is just a big book with mostly useless and outdated information.Ths book covers all aspects of financial planning and is written by someone actually qualified and certified to teach.I like the fact that Savage discusses options to protect your gains. This strategy alone same me a small fortune during the last bear market. And please ignore the 1 star reviews. Obviously they all emenate from the same person, a JBQ shill who doesn't realize that Savage does not work for Microsoft. Just a cheap smear campeign so typical of this individual. The Savage Truth is an OUTSTANDING book well worth your time and moneyand much better than JBQ's Making the Most of Your Money which is undoubtably the most overhyped book of all time.

Summary: Old News
Review: This book is nothing buy repackaged material from many other (and better) books.

Two vastly superior books are: "The Only Investment Guide You'll Ever Need" by Andrew Tobias.

"Making the Most of Your Money," by Jane Bryant Quinn.

The Savage Truth is: If you're going to buy a book from a repeat author stick with Quinn or Tobias.
