Rating: Summary: Alarmist to the Nth degree Review: After purchasing this book, we found out that the FAA is compliant, 80% of the Government is compliant, the FDIC is compliant and Wall Street is ready. Who are they kidding?? Save your money for a rainy day!!
Rating: Summary: Collector's Item Review: After the big Y2K threat became a "non-event" I almost threw this book on the trash heap. Then I realized that it could well be a collector's item one day. There is some sound advice for dealing with natural disasters, planning for record storage, and general common sense practices that are still worth taking a look at now that we are not in a panic mode. Can you imagine if you found a book in your attic entitled "How to Survive the Coming Great Depression" that had belonged to your great grandparents? It would be priceless. This is going into my attic for my grandchildren to dig out someday.

Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT! One of the best you could buy(overall) for Y2K ! Review: An even handed approach to Y2K, which guides the reader intelligently toward a safer future. This book offers you guidance in your preparations, not panic.
Rating: Summary: ...and for Hyatt's next book, Meteors! Review: Hysteria and a dose of air time on CSPAN has made Mr. Hyatt the prophet of doom for the great un-happening of the millenium! Imagine all those people hunkered down on New Year's Eve expecting planes to drop out of the sky and ATMs to die, and you have the makings of a great parody. Hyatt's next big project is going to have intergalatic consequences to match the sales rate of this book. The scenarios greatly underestimated the strength of the global infrastructure and painted an alarmist view. I only hope Mike Hyatt stays true to his chapters on Christianity and tithes the loyalties from this alarmist book so the truly deplorable aspects of U.S. society such as undernourished children and the low education level in the "have not" states is at least impacted by this book. In the end if Mr. Hyatt really wants to make a difference in the U.S. write on the digital divide and use CSPAN time to change the priorities for the 3rd world poverty pockets we have here in the U.S.
Rating: Summary: Very balanced, systematic and understandable approach Review: I found this book to be very balanced in its approach to a sometimes emotional and irrational topic. The author presents an argument for calm, rational investigation of personal areas of potential impact if a 'loss' of society-based services result in Jan 1999. The analogy of a winter storm is very appropriate. I would urge everyone to read an think through these issues as presented.
Rating: Summary: Pollyannas Don't need to read this book. Keep denying! Review: I saw the responses from others who believe the FAA is compliant (they aren't, in fact they had to restore to previous, non-compliant systems because of problems). Government 80% compliant? Try less than 50%, for states and local try less than 20%. Read this book. You are going to need all the information you can get for the next three years.
Rating: Summary: Best book I've seen on Y2K. I Highly recommend it. Review: I've read a number of books and spent hundreds, if not thousands, of hours on the internet reaseaching Y2K in the last year, and Michael Hyatt's book is by far the best I've seen personally. He has done a masterful job of bringing together a very large amount of information into a very readable and practicle guide that will be invaluable to any one who will read it and take action on his common sense recommendations.
Rating: Summary: Portland, OR...how will you get the food? Review: If the trucking company's dispatch is down, as will be law enforcement and fire dispatch, how will trucks get where they are going, or even know where to go? Everyone should be at least minimally prepared with the suggestions in this book or others like it.
