Summary: Book is too dated to be effective in emerging technologies.
Review: Although updated in 1994, most of the text material discusses old mainframe and terminal applications and was likely written during earlier editions of the text. Reading it did not provide a good basis for the telecommunications area, because it is so dated. In its day, it must have been a great text.
