Rating: Summary: Ugh Review: The author certainly seems to think she has the answers for you, but at least for me, she didn't. I felt that she goes too deep in trying to figure out WHY you procrastinate, and not enough in telling you how to fix it.
Rating: Summary: Good book but regret purchasing it as an eBook! Review: The book itself was very good but I would not recommend purchasing it as an eBook. After downloading it I was under the impression that I could print out the excerpts that I wanted to read. WRONG! Each publisher has the right to restrict or allow you to print, which I didn't realize until it was too late. This particular book does not allow printing. I don't have hours to sit in front of the computer and read a book! The only reason I chose to download was because I was too impatient to wait for it to be delivered. Patience is a virtue! Now I've wasted my money and have decided to order the paperback instead. You live and learn!
Rating: Summary: a lot of fluff around a few good points Review: the book was OK, but the extended examples provided little added value -- the same topics and concepts could be communicated in a much more compact presentation
Rating: Summary: Oh Gosh its me!! Review: The minute I picked up this book and started to read, I saw me all over it. I didn't realize how much I procrastinate. I knew I did but not to the extent. I recommend this book to anyone who needs to stop procrastinating, and who doesn't? I found this book very helpful, I just wanted to start doing all the things I had put off, and I did.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful treasure trove of information! Review: The Procrastinator's Handbook is a wonderful treasure trove of information. It is insightful, realistic, down-to-earth, and is conveyed with contagious enthusiasm.Emmett's words of wisdom encouraged me personally when I was writing my first book WADING THROUGH THE CRAP: HOW TO START LIVING THE SUCCESSFUL LIFE YOU HAVE ALWAYS WANTED. At one point I was stalling and floundering with the project, but after plowing through her book, I got myself back on track. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: The Procrastinator's Handbook Review: The title "The Procrastinator's Handbook" is rather much. I would title it "Tips for Procrastinators". I recommend it for some ideas in fighting procrastination, but it did not change my life or offer in philosophical commentaries or motivations.
Rating: Summary: Don't put it off...buy this book NOW! Review: There is a gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it...this book gives you practical advise to end the cycle of chaos. One great tip was "backtiming", learning to set deadlines for yourself that will ensure timely competion of your task by working backwards. Example...mom's birthday is Nov. 23rd, need to have it in the mail by Nov. 18th, need to purchase it weekend of Nov. 12th, because of business trip from Nov. 13-16. Strategic planning makes a happy mom & relaxed daughter! There are countless other realistic tips to help organize your life.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money or time Review: This book is a waste of money. 5% advice, 95% fluff you've read in other help books. At least get this book from the library, but don't buy it. It isn't worth the money.
Rating: Summary: awesome book Review: This book is amazingly helpful. Buy it Now!
Rating: Summary: A real gem Review: This is a wonderful book full of very helpful suggestions and important common sense wisdom about human nature, whether or not you consider yourself to be a procrastinator. I saw myself in the book many times - definitely one of the "I want it all procrastinators" she describes, and also one who fills life with far too many maintenance activities and far too few life-enriching ones - and I gained much encouragement a) from her acknowledgement that my foibles are known territory, common to many, and b) from her many "c'mon, you can do it" suggestions for solutions to these problems. I "read" the audio tape version of this book, and also very much enjoyed the author's delivery of her ideas. She sounds like a real person, and a nice person. And unlike many other motivational audio tapes, I never once got the sense that the author was just reading back what she had written - instead, it was a lot like what I imagine her speaking engagements must be like. Highly recommended! Thanks a lot, Rita.
