Rating: Summary: Review of Andele: the Mexican-Kiowa Captive Review: I received this book several years ago from my father. Andele was married to my grandmother's cousin. My father has told me about his memories of Andele as an old man, and of his gentle spirit and kindness. I finally got the opportunity to read this book recently. It sheds light on native American history I have studied with my children as a homeschool mother. You feel as if you were there experiencing what Andele experienced. I have also seen a copy of the original book written in 1899. It has many original pictures of Andele and others he lived with in captivity. I wish this edition still had those pictures.

Rating: Summary: Andele, My 2nd Great Grand Uncle Review: The book is great. I recommend it highly. It is the personal story on Jose Andres Martin'(ANDELE), my 2nd great grand uncle. His relatives are everywhere in S. Colorado and N. New Mexico. From Trinidad, CO to Santa Fe, New Mexico. It was a hard life but adaption seems to be the way to cope. Quite a story... There are many others out there, but not as well documented. Great book.
Rating: Summary: Kiowa captive Review: This is a wonderful book, first written in 1899 and recently republished. I knew Andele's nephew through his last marriage and read his copy of this book. One of the other reviewers was probably a cousin of this man, Austin Wilson. there are very few books on Indians that were written at the time and by people that actually knew them. This is one of those.
