Summary: Both a great read and reference -
Review: Dr. Tatum's grasp on the political and social environment during the time of Pulcher's influence on Roman society is quite empressive. He has an uncanny ability to relate the importance of all aspects of Roman life in relation to the politics of that time, and deals with this large influx of information and viewpoints without deterring from the flow of his narrative. I'm an avid fan of both Roman history and Dr. Tatum, and recommend this book to any with interest in ancient Roman history - novice and historian alike.

Summary: A MUST READ
Review: I am aware that all work is subject to critique and criticism but some of the comments of reviewers are down right alarming. I am both shocked and appalled at some of the comments that have been made regarding Dr. Tatum's book.

Dr. Tatum does a wonderful job bringing attention to the psychological effects of systemic racism. Racism is still VERY prevalent in our society. Yes, I agree that we should have open dialogue to address issues of race prilvedge but obviously this NOT happening. The issues of racism and privilege should be continuously brought to the forefront.

Being an African American woman, I am fortunate enough experience the effects of racism and disadvantage in our country on a daily basis. I welcome authors such as Dr. Tatum and I thank her tremendously for bringing the topic of racism and racial identity to the attention of ALL.

I would encourage anyone who is planning to work with children of all backgrounds to read this book.
