Rating: Summary: Definately not a Biography Review: It is a very entertaining book with wonderful illustrations and an engaging narative, but not what you are looking for if you want to know about Annie Oakley's real life. The story starts out seemingly factual then you get to the part where she's shooting craters in the moon and points off the star without the clear transition to tall tale status. There's a disclaimer at the end of the book trying to explain that some of it is true and some false but it was too little too late for my Brownie Troop, it left them confused entirely. They did love the story, but it belongs in Fairy Tales, not Biography.

Rating: Summary: Shooting Star is Brilliant! Review: With Scott Goto's unique artwork & Debbie Dadey's rowdy, tall stories the Great Western Star comes alive again with her wildways, her even wilder exploits & her famously Wild West friends. Be prepared to have your socks knocked up over your knees because this is one LOUD fast read! Good way to talk about the history of guns in our society, what they are good for & how skilled one can get with no bias to gender. For more of my children's book reviews do visit my site.
