Rating: Summary: A record of a remakable life in show business Review: Having seen Barry Morse on stage in his wonderful one man stage show "Merely Players" and hearing bits and pieces of his life story contained within it, I immediately wanted to read his autobiography and learn more. The book is not disappointing. While not a tell-all book - it concentrates more on the actor's professional life than on his personal - it is more of a theatrical memoir. The glowing foreword has been written by Academy Award winning actor Martin Landau and it reflects his obvious admiration of Morse. As a fan of both of Barry Morse's television successes ("The Fugitive" and "Space: 1999") it was interesting to read about his experiences in those projects; entire chapters were devoted to both subjects. From his start as the youngest student ever admitted to RADA on a scholarship, to success on the stage, on radio, and in film and television, Morse brings the reader along on the journey. A must-read book for anyone interested in the world of entertainment and theatrical history!
Rating: Summary: An Outstanding Autobiography Review: I'm biased, of course - as co-author I worked on this book with the actor for several wonderful years. As I write in the Preface, Pulling Faces, Making Noises serves to "document a time, an era, a century - and a theatrical experience - that is now gone forever." I hope you enjoy your journey through this book to those by-gone days. About The Book: Actor Barry Morse (co-star of TV's The Fugitive and Space: 1999) presents the triumphs and tragedies of his life and career in this outstanding autobiography. Pulling Faces, Making Noises tells the extraordinary life of Barry Morse, one of the most versatile pros the performing trade has ever known. He's an actor who's led a career more vast and diverse than almost any other in history. More than a memoir, this is a testament of a theatrical time which will not come again, and of an outstanding actor and human being whose favorite role, or challenge, has always been the next one. "The phenomenal Barry Morse." -CBC Times "Barry Morse is one of the most brilliant actors in the world, possessing a superhuman range of characterizations." -David Greene, Producer/Director "Barry's life is a virtual history of the twentieth century...and deserves to be read by everyone on the planet, theatre-folk and civilian alike." -Martin Landau, Academy Award-winning Actor
