Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent History of one of the first WASP/WAF Pilots WW2
Review: Mrs. Scharr was of one the first female flight instructors in the country in the 1930's and when war broke out she answered the call to be a ferrying pilot of various planes throughout World War II. This book is an excellent history of her day-to day flying exploits along with the personalites of the Army Air Corps and the WASP/WAF program. She was one of the first six women to fly for the ferrying service. Her prose actually makes you feel that you are with her in the cockpit and on the many military airfields around the country. Also her personal life with her husband Harold whom she left to serve her country. Her second book Sister in the Sky II is also an excellent follow-up book of her military career. She retired as a reserve officer with the rank of Major in the US Air Force. A Must Read!
