Rating: Summary: Hard Work/Determination - Valuable Life Lessons Review: "Which Way Is West" carries the reader back to the sixties ... but not the hippie/tie-dye theater in America at that time. This is a story about another American theater of the time and at it's best: having a dream and working desperatly hard to create the reality. Mr. Elder speaks in simple prose which high-lights the simplicity of life in the Colorado hinterlands while it underscores the adventures of building something from nothing. The reader will follow along as the author leaves all behind, arrives with his dream, and goes to work.
Rating: Summary: Could not put it down! Review: Book was completed across 2 days worth of commuting, and it only made me wish for a longer commute! A great novel that engulfs the reader into Dick Elder's world, east to west. Feels as if he, himself, is right there telling you the story. Highly recommended!
Rating: Summary: A great read on a train, plane or bus trip Review: Dick Elder's book was so mesmerizing I couldn't put it down when I started reading. His innovative plans for building a successful dude ranch were inspirational as he overcame one diversity after another. Elder's writing style is down to earth and you are there with him every step of the way. I will read Which Way Is West again and recommend it highly to my friends. Maybe a few enemies too. Alan Abel
Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: Hold on to your seat! This is a "can't put it down" book that empowers you to achieve more. Go for it!
Rating: Summary: Simplistic and Sincere Review: I enjoyed reading the book and felt the author was very sincere and honest. It elicits a very positive feeling and conveys a good message...It wasn't taxing on my thinking.
Rating: Summary: Which Way is West Review: I felt the book was very inspirational and very well written. It was very easy to relate to, easy to read and I felt the author was very honest in his writing or his feelings rather. I would recommend it for a light, motivating and uplifting experience.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It spoke to the fact that if you have a passion, you can use it to build a satisfying and rewarding way of life.
Rating: Summary: Dick Elder gives a hopeful perspective Review: In a environment of cynicism and despair, Dick Elder's book rises up to present a hopeful story, one which leaves the reader empowered to take more control of their life. Beautiful writing and a wonderful read.
Rating: Summary: You Can do it too! Review: The best thing about this book is that it makes you feel like you can do it too -- whatever your dream. It's a kind of folk tale. There are obstacles and setbacks, but, in a way, you are co-creating your tale with the universe. The storytelling in this book is real nice, just carries you right along like you're listening to a spoken yarn. It's a relaxed matter of fact voice. and that puts you in the mood of "yes, I've got a dream and story too," -- onwards!
Rating: Summary: The American adventure is alive and well. Review: This is truly an inspirational book for everyone to enjoy. It is heartening to find a story like this to remind us all that the American adventure and dream is alive.
