Rating: Summary: A friend of the family Review: Mile Todd was a neighbor and friend of my Aunt Josie and Uncle Louie. Mike lived "down the road a piece, around the bend" (as close as you can be across the road in a mountain area). After reading it I really missed going up there. I was surprised he had died when I was about 10 (1960). With all the stories I thought he was still alive. Some of the stories I head about him are not in the book. Like when he would walk from "the tower" to Margaretville (about a four hour walk along trails over the mountains) to get some whiskey. On his way back, at night, when he got tired, he would step off the trail, crawl under a bush and go to sleep. Some of the book is easier to read out load. The author tried to get the sound of their accent.
