The Champagne Gang: High Times and Sweet Crimes

Summary: The Glass is Dry!
Review: Although I am greatful for having been introduced to the story, something false, almost comic hero/villain like rings to me. I can only point at the young first time writer Jeremy Mercer for this effect. He sensationalizes their life and crimes well. I would be interested to know the real story as to how things went down. Mr.Mercer fails to give us some truth about these young men. He waits 150+ pages in to tell us of the broken home Yves Belanger came from ( a lame portrait painted at that). I think this here is a case of a young writer who grew up a good boy, and is reveling in the mysterious, exciting criminal world of the boys from the other side of the tracks, the whole time wishing it could be him.

Summary: Good Guys..Lousy Book
Review: I grew up with these guys..in fact we used to do neighbourhood stuff all together when we were kids..well not Kevin tho..he wasn't around then ;)..played hockey with two of em..but enough about me..Marc and Yves are good guys who want everything easy without having to work too hard for it..Tyler is a good guy from a good household who wanted to be 'bad' but earlier, wouldn't get dirty..nice guy probably the only one who'll get a real job one day in the real world..now about the book..I already knew what was going on when I bought the book, but I just wanted to see and identify all the 'composites' and secondary players that I knew..that was fun...I made the cut!..like I said they are all good guys..I'd take any of them, if I needed someone to have my back...the authors style is a lousy combination of prose and fiction..and his narrative is tepid and safe at best...the only 'valuable' insight he had was when he mentioned the tshirts the task force printed up with saying the guys used a lot, printed on the back (we ALL used the smell ya later back then..we got that from Jay Elford)..he should stick to writing columns in the city section of the newspaper thats for sure....

Review: I just read the "reviews" of this "book" and felt compelled to write. I happen to have first hand knowledge of what's true and what's not. I would just like to clarify a few things. First of all the book is greatly exaggerated and glamorized.(The only reason it got two stars,hats off Jeremy try some fiction). Secondly,despite what the previous reviewer "gang member" says I believe the sentence was fair and there is remorse.Finally,if this misguided interpretation of the facts can be published as true,why does'nt someone create a sequel.

Review: This was perhaps the most interesting book i have ever read. It's local element added greatly to it's appeal to me and my friends. Through this book I have develloped 4 new idols. I think I've read this book about 5 times cover to cover never losing interest. Hats off to Jeremy Mercer and the gang!
