Rating: Summary: More sensationalism of a very sad story Review: I cannot believe that this woman says she was grown, married, and living in her own home, and still allowed this to happen to her. Did her front door not have a lock on it? Could she not tell her husband to help her? Does she feel vindicated now that she has money? Has her money made her happier, or given her any peace? And what about her brother? How has this story helped him?
Rating: Summary: Response to Man In New Jersey Review: I guess this reader, as intelligent as he thinks he is, would know that the author never written anything else..I saw Meg on Montel, and she was wonderful. This books just goes to show, there is some justice in this world for perverts and sexual abusers. I am sure the reader feels that her mother, and I use that term loosely, was justified in pretending not to see, and then condoning what was happening. All for the love of money. This book was written to open the eyes of closed minded people who think this sort of thing never happens. At 3, how can a child know what is right or wrong? You get programmed to think, and function, and what is abnormal to you, becomes normal and acceptable to the abused. Meg is currently working in setting up a home for abused and abandoned children. She already has the property, and is using the proceeds from the book and movie to make her dream come true. To give back a child his or her life, and to realize that they too can be loved and wanted.
Rating: Summary: I can relate Review: I met this wonderful person that this book was written about. She gave me this book when she learned that I too was abused. It is incredible how she has turned so much pain and suffering into something positive as she shows so clearly in the way she leads her life. I never thought in a million years there was so much abuse going on in our United States. It't time that abuse is stopped including verbal, mental, emotional and sexual. I pray that in opening the scarrs and barring her soul in her book that Megan will be continuely blessed and never forgotten. Your Friend, June
Rating: Summary: Best Book Ever Review: I've learned from personal experience that Meg is truely as strong and good hearted as she seems. I cringe at the thought of the horrible things she was forced to endure for so long and can only pray this book touches others as much as it has me. Meg's story inspires everyone to never give up or give in to the wicked people surrounding us. I thank the Lord everyday for the voice he has given her, and hope that others can find peace that have been through similar tragidies.

Rating: Summary: Where are the adults? Review: Meg Clairmonte's book was painful for me to read because I had a childhood as horrifying as hers. It's been difficult for me to write a review because of the closeness in our experiences. However, I want to write one so more people understand. Meg's book reveals just how misjudged children can be when adults do not want to see. The adults in Meg's life did not want to see the control and abuse Donald Sahlman inflicted on Meg. To free themselves of all obligation to protect children, adults sometimes even blame children for situations the children cannot control. The children end up alone. The same thing happened in my childhood. My mother tried to kill me. When the murder attempt failed, she did her best to kill me emotionally. Other children could see what was happening in my family, but adults refused to see. I ended up facing my murderer alone. I survived emotionally only because my father loved me, though he did nothing to protect me from my mother. Meg and I and the thousands of others like us wouldn't have to cope alone if adults would pay attention. We end up living alone with terrors adults are afraid to just look at. After reading Meg's book, please let one child know they are valuable and deserve to be treated well. You may not be able to stop the abuse, but you can help the child.
Rating: Summary: Absolute Must-Have Review: Once I opened this book, I could not put it down. I think anyone who has suffered from sexual abuse should read this book. It shows us that we are not alone, even though it feels that way most of the time. Meg's picture should be next to the word "survivor" in the dictionary.
Rating: Summary: Things Every Human Being need to know exist in this world Review: This book has not been in my home for 12 Hours and has been completely "devoured" and some of it reread. The world, as Meg knew it must be revealed and we should pay attention. The damage done for the selling of her, by her mother, into sexual slavery, the emotional crippling of a prisoner of war, and only God knows what else, purely for materalistic gain and status in the world and Don's perverse desires are akin to the small segments that ultimately tear down the very fiber of society. Meg is a very brave woman and people should be empathetic enough to wonder what they would have done in her place, and if she can ever be happy, whole and mentally sound....I, for one fervently hope so. And thank you for letting me experiance this incredable story.
Rating: Summary: I give thanks for this book Review: This book is a fascinating and compelling journey through the struggles Meg endured to achieve peace after enduring abuse at the hands of both parents. Having struggled all my life through similar circumstances this book helped me to see I am not alone in this world and there are others out there who have also been abused by what are seemingly perfect parents to the outside world. I thank you Meg for having the courage to tell your story by writing this book
Rating: Summary: Ultimate Judgment Review: This book is a must read. It will keep your interest to the end and you will marvel at the strength and courage of Meg Clairmonte to relive this torment all over again. It took and incredible person to endure.
