Review: If I could have read this book or met its author before I moved to Florida twenty years ago, I'd probably never have forsaken either politics or Massachusetts. My daughter, who had Amazon.com send this book to me, wrote: "Mom, this is the book you should have written!" So, as a born Republican politician and vice-chairman of the Mass. Republican State Committee in the 6o's, I was more than a little surprised to learn at first glance that Betty Taymor was an outstanding Democrat leader in state and national politics. I became engrossed in her heroic battle as an ardent advocate of and super-role model for ALL women in politics, - whatever their party, race, color or creed. I was reminded at every turn-of-the-page of my own frustrating struggles - not so much with Democrats as with the gender problem of unenlightened MEN (and women)of my own party. And this message is not just for Mass. Though it is much needed there, it applies to every political party across the nation. As Betty Taymor says in conclusion: "I am certain that if we guide young girls in developing their leadership potential, if men begin to welcome women ................." A unique and important read!
