Summary: Will there ever be Justice for a beautiful little girl?
Review: Being from Britain, I didnt know much about Jonbenet Ramsey's murder, until i saw a small piece in the paper and has since then captured my heart, This is a dreadful story about a parents fight to clear their names and Justice for their beautiful little girl who was so cruelly murdered in her own home on a peaceful night, it is a tragic book and upset me to think someone could murder the most innocent of children! A must read for the people who doubt the Ramseys innocence. How could loving parents suddenly turn into brual murderers?

I hope one day Jonbenet will get her justice!

Summary: Difficult to wade through all the names
Review: I found this book in a dollar store and purchased it out of curiosity. After all, up until this point, almost all I had heard was the "other side" of the story. What I expected to read was a reminiscent autobiography about their lives with JonBenet and what she meant to their family, with perhaps a little bit of information post the tragedy.

However, the book is anything but a reminiscent view of a beloved daughter. Instead, it shows two very hurt people who, at every possible chance, mention people they feel wronged by, by both a first and last name. They are even elated when one of their friends attempts to "get back" at a reporter by attempting to harm his marriage (chapter 15; p. 164).

Though some of the book is interesting, it is difficult to wade through the 400 pages to find the actual substance. The names mean nothing to me; therefore it seems that the only reason people would be mentioend in such a way is to "get back" at them. In fact, the first time I ran into an accusatory mention of someone, I checked in the front to see if pseudonyms were being used to protect identities. That seems to be the norm for other books of this nature...but, in this case, people are mentioned by their real first and last names, along with what they did against the Ramseys.

The Ramseys say they have been wrongly judged, yet this book is full of the Ramseys doing the judging. Do they have more right than their accusers to judge? Neither side has a right to judge; yet this book is almost satirical in the fact that the Ramseys here do exactly what they hated to see from others.

Summary: JonBenet's parents speak up
Review: I think that the only brainwashing that has been done in this case, is the spoon-fed "journalism" dished out to the public by the media. That's twisted enough. But what does that make those who allow it to be shoved down their throats (and there are a lot of you here, apparently). Shame on you if have allowed yourselves to subscribe to their "guilty until proven innocent" philosophy that is the judicial hallmark of so many communist countries. Shame on you if you don't even take the time to think about what YOU would do if you found yourself in this same kind of situation, and no one would believe you, or take you seriously. Funny our society thrives on wealth and fame, but when someone who is wealthy is accused of a crime, they are presumed guilty. This 'I am the judge' mentality of so many self-righteous Americans is very disturbing. Not to mention the rush to judgement when the accused are Christians----Whoa, Now that is a feeding frenzy by hypocritical despots indeed. I wasn't there---you weren't there. I tend to believe them, but then again, I don't pretend to be God, like a few of the reviewers here. But---they deserve the fairness shown to ANY OTHER accused persons in this country. What makes them different? Nothing but the fact that they have been placed in a courtroom of inexperienced, incompentent, and gullible people---media, "law enforcement", and book reviewers. Do me a favor---read this well written account, by the people who---yes, know more about the case than even you. Study some Christian literature. It might give some of you finger pointers some much needed humility. And read about communist techniques and propaganda---The American media uses those teachings as their guideline. Bottom line---there is as much to go on that the Ramseys are innocent as there is that they are guilty. If you can't see this-your guilty of ignorance.

Summary: One star is too good for this tripe!
Review: I've wanted to read their book for a while, because I wanted to evaluate both sides of this horrible tragedy, but I didn't want a dime of my money going toward these superficial, self-absorbed people. I bought a used copy from Amazon, where hopefully the Ramseys see zero royalties.
Even though the book claims that the proceeds were going toward the JonBenet Ramsey Children's Foundation, I had a strong feeling that the money would go to the Save-John-and-Patsy's-Rear-Ends-Foundation. And, as people have discovered, the phone lines to the foundation have been disconnected, the website is shut down...decide for yourself if the family is being totally honest about their motives.
I'm digressing here. The format of the book is a little confusing, with the narration in John's voice, then in Patsy's, and it does take a couple of paragraphs to figure out who's talking, as other reviewers have mentioned. I also did wonder why was their portrait on the front cover when the book is supposed to be about their daughter? There is a tiny photo of JonBenet, back toward the camera, on the back cover. Was that put there as an afterthought?
There was too much "poor us" and "we're such God-fearing, good people" and not enough about their sweet daughter, in my opinion. It was more of a diatribe about how their lives have been disrupted since JonBenet's unthinkable murder, and how they could NEVER do such a thing. They portray themselves as too perfect for words. That's suspicious right there.
I wish Amazon had negative star ratings. This book is now taking up space in a landfill. Thank God paper is biodegradable; at least the book is useful in that respect.
BTW, go to www.supportramsey.com and read Patsy's letter from 6/04 that she wrote while Hubby Dearest was running for office in Michigan. Do you notice similarities between her letter and the ransom note? Just a thought...

Summary: Give me a break!
Review: The Death of Innocence is the story of how JonBenet's parents were thrust under the spotlight of suspicion shortly after their beauty queen daugher was found brutally murdered in their mansion. It tells about the last day of JonBenet's life-Christmas 1996. Although it answers SOME questions, it doesn't seem very truthful and only brings up more questions. The book was released at the wrong time, and it mostly talks about revenge on the people that murdered their daughter. It also gives a discription of what the "killer" may look like. I didn't believe a word of the bologna they dished. This book is all about people that need to pity them, and not enough about the daughter that should have been the most important thing in their lives. I would not reccomend this TRASH.

Summary: Discover the truth.......
Review: This book has been an eye opener for myself and the five people I have recommended it too. My copy has fallen apart from all its readers. I became very interested in the story of JonBenet. I could not understand why any parent would kill his or her own child. NOW I KNOW! This book explains allot about the night beautiful JonBenet was taken from this earth. It also lists evidence that the police did not want you to know. Her parents deserve justice for their daughter. The police should spend more time looking at the evidence before claiming someone is guilty. Do we not live in a country where we are "innocent until proven guilty"? Read this book and discover the truth yourself!!!

Summary: Wonderful Book
Review: This book was beautifully written as the love and passsion of the parents of JonBenet Ramsey. It tells the real story the way it happened and it tells of the STUPID MISTAKES THE INEXPERIENCED POLICE DEPARTMENT MADE. If only the media knew the true story......

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent book, the truth...a can't put it down book
Review: This is the most honest book I have read about this tragedy. I just wanted to hug Patsy. What these people have gone through is unimaginable and they have done it with dignity.

Summary: Presumed guilty until proven innocent
Review: This is the story of the tragic way in which the media circus surrounding the murder of the Ramsey's six year old daughter stripped them of their privacy, their wealth, and destroyed their lives. The Ramseys have been publicly accused of the murder of their daughter, tried and convicted in the court of public opinion, the media, and presumed guilty until they prove themselves innocent.
The story of JonBenet's last day of her life, Christmas Day 1996 is told by her parents.
The many ways the murder was exploited by the tabloids, the press, the Boulder Police Department with their leaks to the press, and the internet sub-culture with its hate-the- Ramseys forums is discussed and many of the side shows that have attached themselves to the case in bizarre ways.

The actions of the Ramseys and the investigators are discussed in the book in detail. A must read for the serious follower of the JonBenet murder case no matter which side of the fence one is on.
