Summary: A Square of Sky and a Touch of Earth
Review: One of the best books I have read, Janina reaches out into your very soul. Learning what happened to her during the Second World War as a child, she shows a very different perspective growing up during that period compared with other accounts, which just leave you chilled, she brings places and people back to life, making you go through every stage with her, feeling all the pain and happiness as she did. One of those memorable books that leaves you wanting to know more about her, what she's doing now and if she'll release any more books! as I'll be the first to buy one.

Summary: A childhood that should never be forgotten
Review: This book was the most dominating book of my childhood and I read it the first time, when I was only 14 years old. It not only takes you right to the places of Janina's childhood but intensely lets you feel what it really must have been like in those times. Like others, I have kept the book in my cupboard for almost 20 years and I am still waiting to see if Janina David has more books in store - I guess not?

Summary: A Square of Sky and a Touch of Earth
Review: This is a riveting tale of life in Poland during the second world war, but seen and experienced by a Jewish child being hidden by Catholic friends who risked their lives to do so- mostly nuns in and around Warsaw. I had hoped that Janine David had written a sequel to this book and more about her life after the war and had hoped to glean more details about what happened to the nuns, as well, and where the location of the convents really were, as no villages were named in the book. I have read this book several times in German and now want to read it again (in English).
