Rating: Summary: winning testimony of Chinese Billy Graham Review: This book tells the life story of Pastor Hsi, who was converted from a hard core Confucius scholar to a Christian who won thousands and saved many opium-smokers to health and new lives. No doubt, any reader will wonder why Pastor Hsi's prayers were always answered, and no matter how difficult the financial situation was, there was always a solution to continue his ministry. I think, whoever reads the book will find the answer and many more for their own spiritual growth. Anybody who wants to know about the history and lives in Central China in late nineteenth century should read this book. Also, the battles in spiritual world were depicted vividly and exemplified from many true stories in the book. Many people who doubt spirituality, or miracles, and those who want to find evidence for them, should read this book to see how real it can be. There are so many things we could learn from the life of Pastor Hsi, a Chinese Billy Graham. It's up to you to explore and find out. Enjoy the journey!
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: This is one of the best Christian biographies available, indeed as are all those of the late Mrs. Howard (Geraldine) Taylor - though sadly, nearly all are out of print. This book describes how a typical Chinese scholar was touched with the Gospel and went on to be a powerful Christian influence over his entire province. If you can, look in a used bookshop for the original, unabridged edition in two volumes (called - Pastor Hsi: One of China's Scholars, and Pastor Hsi: One of China's Christians) which is well worth the extra paper.
