Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: book with tremendous depth, dedication and ideas.. America is unfortunate to not to have man like Senator Bradley as President
Rating: Summary: Very well written Review: Bradley does a wonderful job in this book of recounting not just his life but the lives of many others. He brings us numerous vignettes about individuals and their situations, from across the country and the demographic spectrum. He shows intelligence, morality and more modesty than your typical politician, admitting when he has erred or where he may still be wrong. You might not agree with all he believes (I don't) but it is obvious he has thought through his beliefs and is not just another sound-bite senator. Probably the best book by a politician I have yet read. Highly recommended for any American.
Rating: Summary: A great look at America Review: Bradley takes a thoughtful look at his life and many issues that face America. I liked reading of his Missouri youth and NBA days, plus his analysis of economic change, media sensationalism, and the corrosive influence of money on politics. Bradley's superb (if short) discourse on the inner workings of the U.S. Senate provides the type of useful information one never gets from our sound-bite media. Bradley even takes issues like water policy and shows why they matter. The Senator's blame-whites-only view of racial divisions was rather naive, but even here he makes some points. This book is more than a readable memoir; it's a compassionate, thought-inspiring look at America.

Rating: Summary: What a nice surprise. Review: I expected "Time Present, Time Past" to be a typical political autobiography- a lame rehash of old battles with the author steadfastly skiewing events in his favor, and then lying out a few vauge ideas about "making America better". Instead, I was treated to a very intelligent book wherein the author talked about real people and real stories of his growing up. Bradley's candid frustration at being able to unlock the machinery of government and his lack of arrogance is a refreshing change. This book is altogether poignant and readable. Anyone who reads this is going to vote for Bill Bradley next year.
Rating: Summary: Another reason to love Bill Bradley Review: I have read a number of political books & memoirs, and I think I can count the times I chuckled on one hand. Until I picked up Mr. Bradley's wonderful, engaging, self-depricating, insightful "Time Present, Time Past." Now, I am not saying that it is a laugh-a-minute book. Not at all. It just has the tone of reading a particularly well-written letter from a friend. Bradley is candid about his own faults, refreshingly direct about his political views and his mistakes. The structure of the text is interesting -- it is non-linear, which makes it even more compelling. It takes the reader through a free-association voyage on the 1992 campaign trail, learning tidbits about Bradley and politics all the way. But the real reason to read this book is not because Bill Bradley is funny (which he is) or because he can craft a good turn of phrase (which he can) or because he is interesting (which he is). The real reason is that this book is about the essence of what American politics could be, if everyone were even half as excited as Bill Bradley. His absolute integity and leadership shine through every page of the book. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A very interesting, thoughtful book. Review: In this book, Bill Bradley explains his path to power and how and why he left. I only wish he would run for president. The book itself is slightly long-winded, and he tends to get off the subject, however, for those who love political memoirs, this is a must have. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: "The Senator, Statesman, Leader, and all around good man" Review: In this intelligent, thoughtful, witty, and captivating memoir Bill Bradley tells stories about America and indivdual Americans while espousing his beliefs about what the nation has become and what it should be. The book transcends the traditional memoir of a politician as it chooses to speak more about the effects of policy rather than what particular policy can benefit our society. The reader feels the former Senator's compassion for the human condition and understands why he would be a wonderful leader. It is a must read for anyone who believes the hardships that face the nation can be overcome.
Rating: Summary: Bradley for President in 2000! Review: The content of this book covers Mr. Bradley's perspective on the issues critical to a strong America. I have yet to hear one politician bring to the table the key issues (race most importantly)that we all face in this country and Bradley brings them to the forefront. He's a great individual and he's won my vote!
Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: This is an excellent book--good writer, incisive mind, great Democrat! Suggest everyone read it!
