Summary: Good story but not well written
Review: This was a very good story of a man comming to this country with nothing and making something out of himself with his talent. He came and found the american dream in the sense of money and success. Yet there was so much missing in his life and you can tell the the author does not even know what it is s he was writing the book. My problem with the book is the way it was writen. He is not a skilled writer by any means. He does not have a "voice" or personality as a writer to be able to grab the reader. He just lays the story in front of you and adds a bunch of information that is not only useless but could drift your attention from the actual story. For those thinking about reading the book, understand that it is a rich story but there will be times where you will want to just skip some pages cause they are irrelevant.

The story starts out with Thomas Muhl, as a young aspiring artist, living in the hard times of communism and war. Throughout the novel we discover the hardships that he went through, as well as learn about how he survived.
If you enjoy stories about survival during war, and more importantly survival of life, this book is a must to read.

Summary: Thomas Muhl
Review: Retouching Stalin's Moustache is a beautifully written novel about the many struggles, oppressions, and depressions of a man who braved the darkest depths of these conflicts over the course of his life. In this book, Muhl recounts some of his most tragic hardships and some of the most horrific experiences that anybody can imagine undergoing. He's witnessed disgusting crimes against humanity; he's been forced out of sickening situations by corrupt governments and communist oppressors; his ordeals eventually carried him away from his homelands and into new worlds where such strife would only be reborn. Muhl tells a story of trial and failure, but he shows that, in the end, one can overcome even the most treacherous of scenarios. This book is an inspiration to every fighter out there, and I suggest that everybody read this piece.

Summary: Retouching Stalin's Moustache
Review: Retouching Stalin's Moustache was one of the most inspirational books I've ever read. Author Thomas P. Muhl really opened up in this book, letting the reader into his life as an artist in the army during World War II. The story is beautifully written, and there are authentic pictures from the war throughout the book, to add to the experience this book provides. Muhl's life has been filled with pain and suffering, but he has proven himself to be a courageous survivor. I give this book five stars for its ability to inspire and motivate whoever may read it.

Summary: Thomas P. Muhl's life
Review: The book "Retouching Stalin's Moustache" by Thomas P. Muhl is a mixture of history, art and love story in a "finding-yourself story". "Wladyslaw Szpilman", but much younger along with a love story. Every single detail in the book is very well described, he says in the preface that if he knew that he was going to write a book about his life, he would have takes more chances in his life, but what more than this? It's an inspiring story about his true lasting love, art, how they found each other and managed to stay together after so many obstacles in his life. Throughout the novel, you understand his personal story along with certain historic facts, about leaders and political status. He starts in present but for you to place yourself in his shoes have to go back in forth in time. It's the type of story I would recommend for young people, who don't know what to do with their lives, because, like I said it's inspiring for you to do what you really want to do in life, don't wait because it might be too late. It's the type of story that makes you realize how lucky we are for been born in this time. It's not until you read and visualize this type of story that you can really be grateful for what you are and have.

Summary: Spectacular
Review: The book Retouching Stalin's Moustache was an amazing story. The book is very well written and keeps your attention on it. I really liked the flashbacks of the book. How at one place I was reading about the tanks and Molotov cocktails and in the next I am reading about the communist manifesto in 1945. The jumping around of the flashbacks keeps the story interesting. The book is very detailed and makes you feel like you are in the same place as the characters and the fact that it is so detailed makes it more exciting. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn the story of a man and his wife and their journey towards the United States to escape the Hungarian revolution.

Summary: Retouching Stalin's Moustache
Review: This autobiography of the author's real life events make the book all the more interesting because it allows the reader to experience a taste of the author's bitter past through his memory. His survival through the Holocaust and the Hungarian Revolution are inspirational and are events that few live to tell about. He overcame these obstacles through his resourcefulness and determination to survive. His long, hard trek to freedom was amazing and suspenseful. His life was a daunting journey that can inspire all who read about it and is truly worthy of admiration. I give this book a four star rating.

Summary: Review of Stalin's Moustache
Review: This book by Thomas Muhl is not the best book out in bookstores but it is one to remember. The book is basically an autobiography of the author; all of his hardships and mishaps throughout his life are exposed. Most of the events and trials from childhood to manhood are revealed and discussed in story-like format.
