Rating: Summary: A Promise Kept Review: Blue Popsicles is an amazing story of love, family, friendship, inspiration and motivation. If you are an adult that continues to blame the world for your problems, Read This Book; you will have a whole new outlook on life. Share this book with the youth. They will be inspired and motivated to succeed in life, in spite of the adversities they face daily.Normally children emulate what they are taught. The majority of the children in the home had strong feelings for Nancy, even though the prejudices of some of the staff were exhibited daily. When Nancy was mistreated, it was obvious the other children hurt for her. I admired Nancy for being understanding of her peers, who expressed hatred towards her. She realized at an early age, it was not the children. It was the hatred they were taught, by the adults. Ms. Ife, I am so pleased you are spiritually grounded. God had a plan for you. Writing this book and working with the children in your church, I believe was part of His plan. Your story is very inspirational. I am positive it has been a tool to help heal the emotional pains of others that were orphans at the home. God blessed you with so many talents. I am glad you had a very strong will, to persevere and not let them "beat you down" mentally. Thank you for keeping your promise to tell. This book is a must read for all.
Rating: Summary: A Voice for Today Review: NeAnni Ife's "Blue Popsicles" is a brilliant work of non-fiction that takes the reader on a spellbinding personal and historical journey into the author's life growing up in an orphanage. And, while political, racial and emotional issues and conflicts within Ms. Ife's journey are vividly depicted, acknowledged, mourned, and overcome, the reader is not left with a picture of hopelessness, but one of triumph and love of the highest order. I rate this book an infinite amount of stars! Well Done, Ms.Ife! Well Done! You are definitely a "voice for today". ~~ Spydir K
Rating: Summary: Blue Popsicles Review: This is a must read. It is the best book I've read in a long time. I laughed with Nancy, I cried with her, but most of all I was amazed at her resilience. It is amazing to me that a child who was so young and part of such a hostile environment was able to come through with any kind of sanity. I applaud Ms. Ife and her new found freedom in Christ. Her struggle and experiences would lead many to believe that there is no God. It was a blessing to know that although she had many questions, she still opened her heart and soul to God. This is a book that can assist many who are going through difficult times. It is indeed a must read. I plan not only to tell everyone I know about the book, but to buy several copies to give to them immediately, so they don't forget the title or say I can't find it or forget to go get it.
