Review: This book is not a full biography, and makes little attempt to depict Win's private life, inner personality or secret battles. For example, the index excludes Gene Wirges and Marlin Hawkins, and Rockefeller's 2-term battle against corruption as governor of Arkansas is practically unmentioned in the text. However, its an excellent reference for those interested in Rockefeller's record of philanthropic activities and progressive ethics. Only the jealous would deny that this Rockefeller was a generous man. Are you curious about exactly how much money he personally gave and to whom? It's in Appendix A, by year and alphabetically, covering 1934 to 1973. Two additional appendices provide data on gifts and grants by the eponymous Charitable Trust and the Foundation.
