Summary: The Truth about Fuller Ossoli
Review: James places Fuller-Ossoli in her contextual environment, both the United States and Europe. The sociological and cultural discussion undergirds James' thesis that Fuller is the superior of Emerson and other Transcendentalists, but is forgotten for two major reasons. First and foremost, because she is a woman, and second because her male peers denigrated and demeaned her work. The one male who recognized Fuller's genius was Horace Greely, and he did not participate in the writing of her biorgraphies.

An astute study of Fuller's work, as well as the overpowering patriarchal culture of the mid-19th century. A very good read, easy to understand and well written.
